front sight on AR barrels?

would the front sight obstruct the view of a holographic type sight on a flat top receiver? And if so ,could you remove it and replace it with a gas block?Thanks for all the help,and yall will see alot of my questions on here until I complete my build and take it to the range and yoteytown!

Yes, it will obstruct the holo sight. You certainly can replace the front sight and base and use a gas block or cut the sight structure off and retain the gas block portion of the base. Go to the Build forum in AR15.com, there are illustrated directions on this very process.

You can also set the scope slightly higher so that you can "co-witness".  This is very popular set-up and even our government has this.  What is does is puts your dot on the top of your front sight post.  It is kind of a safe guard in case your batteries were to die or the scope were to malfunction.

Otherwise, switch out the gas block.
