I have the Pachmyer Decelerator grip & forend for my contender in handgun configuration. I think they are the nicest shooting grips you can own. They do a great job of absorbing the heavy recoil from a 44 magnum, or a 45LC. and are much more comfortable than any stock T\C wooden grip.

I totally agree. I use mine on a .50 cal. muzzle loader pistol-much better than either tc grip. I had to modify the forearm-- used a rifle ml for end. On my 44 the Pachmayr forearm is small but usable. still better than tc rubber one.

You have a 50 cal. ML handgun barrel? Maybe I'm having a brain seize, but I don't ever remember seeing one of those. Who made the barrel? And how does it shoot? Does it use the 209 primer? (I think that's what it's called....i don't own any in-lines (Yeah....one of those damn purest))  Enough energy to kill a whitetail at 50 yards?

There is significant difference between Pachmayer's for Contenders and what they just came out with for Encores.  I agree with Dave, they're the greastest thing going for Contenders.  I installed them long ago on all of mine.  The Encore grip is wider, more hand filling...absorbs recoil as well (maybe even better).  The forend appears similiar, but they did away with the adapter.  It screws directly to the barrel, i.e. TC's forends.  Evidently they had trouble with bending or shearing mounting screws.  They now have a standard version and a magnum version of the forend with the reccomended breaking point being the .308WIN.  The magnum version is lighter than the standard(to reduce torque on the screws under recoil I assume), and the standard version that I have is lighter than the forend for the Contender w/ adapter.  I really like the grip, but I envision me going to Georgia Jim for forends. Just my 2cents FWTW.  GOOD SHOOTIN',  Walt
