22 mag shotshells

Are the 22 mag shotshells intended for use in rifles or just handguns, and if intended for rifles, would the rifling affect performance? thanks! :drink4:

Yes and Yes, I have used them in both and I'm sure the rifling has some affect on them but they are such a small cartrige they won't be much use at any distance. They are probably better suited in a pistol but they will work just fine in a rifle. They won't cycle the action on an auto loader though.  KN

exactly how do they work, does the little blue bullet come out of the barrel and then kind of drop while the shot keeps on going, like a shot cup on shotguns shells?
I don't think the shot would be sent down the barrel just bouncin' around-
thanks again

I think that the rifleing in the barrel is supposed to cut the OD of the shot capsule. Don't ask me for "source" on that, can't remember where I read it!   8)

I have no idea what you want them for, but they are for only at close range and the shot is so small you are lucky to kill anything tougher than a butterfly. I would stick with normal shells. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

My lease is full of rattlesnakes so I carry my Single Six with 4 JHP mags and two CCI shotshells ready to go first.  I was out there this morning, just checkin' tracks, and put out a 6"X8" target to "pattern" the shot.  At six feet the shot completely covered the cardboard.  In the center of the pattern was a 22 cal sized impression, from the little shot cup cap, I guess.  One shot ain't exactly a scientific study (I only had one piece of target-grade cardboard in the truck) but there ya have it.  I'm sure though, that beyond six feet the pattern falls apart REAL quick.
