Does anyone have any experience pro or con on the Sig Trailside pistol?  I am thinking of getting one with the plan to put a scope on it, using the grooves provided.  Some test reports have been very favorable, but I would appreciate any real world experience.

My only real world experience is range time.  I think it is a great gun and I have a red dot sight mounted on it.  extremely accurate, light, fun to shoot, especially with the price of .22 ammo.  to compare it to other semi auto's, I bought the trailside over the ruger because I like the looks of the Trailside more than the Ruger.  I also knew I would be getting a quality gun because it is made by Sig.  I am happy with it.  Good luck on your decision

I bought the first one with 6" barrel that hit the gunshop I deal with. Been quite awhile back. The target that came with it was some kinda small group. I sure never matched that one but then I also never scoped it. I felt the front sight was a bit on the wide side for best shooting but otherwise had no compliants against it. Nice light weight gun that is very accurate and has a nice trigger.

Never shot mine all that much really and eventually traded it off for something else but don't even recall what at this time. If you are gonna scope it I'd say the Trailside is as good a choice as you'll find for that use.

I wanted to quit smoking this year, so I picked on old past-time I enjoyed (killing paper targets with pistols) as a reward for myself to put down the cancer sticks.

I figured the money I used to give the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. I could spend on myself and my ressurected hobby.

My local gun club has a league competition night about every Wednesday night, shooting 600's with .22's (most of the year).

Well anyway, I splurged on the 6" Trailside Target as a gun to get back in the game with.

There have been about 4 bricks of ammo through it. Here are some notes.....

Eats any kind of ammo I put through it, as long as I keep it resonably clean.

This .22 will shoot better than I will ever be able to. Really accurate!!

The safety quit working (Jammed in fire mode) after about 500 rounds went through it.

Found out at (www.larrysguns.com) that you should never clean the internals of the gun, as you will clear out some non-graphite moly grease off the sear. If you do this (I did, it was not listed in the owners manual) you will GREATLY increase the wear on the internal parts that you cannot get to without serious gunsmithing.

After about 1000 rounds the slide started slamming closed after the last round has been fired.

After about 2000 round the slide will hardly stay open at all under any conditions. The aluminum slide catch lever has been completely worn away were it engages the slide by the sharp v-notch in the stainless steel slide.

At this point you will save ALOT of money for your $450-600 dollar investment.....on AMMO!!!  Because it has been at Sigarms, Inc. in New Hampshire for the last    %$@*!  BLEEP-BLEEP  3 weeks.

I have been informed by a gunsmith outside of ther Sigarms company that they (Hammerli?) may have issues with the heat treating process on some of thier parts.

P.S.
Sigarms will not contact you at any time through thier return process, so all the contact info. they want from you on your return form is a waste of time. You have to call them several times through the process. The first date that they tell you that they shipped your firearm back to you is a LIE! When it doesn't show up, and you call them (again) to put a tracer on it, the customer service guy blames the incorrect ship date on the customer service gal (who he calls incompetant, ..pot calling the kettle black, if you get my drift). You get put on hold for eternity...while they go try to find your firearm thats lost.
