THIS PROJECT IS GETTING GOING
« on: December 19, 2007, 12:10:21 AM »
This "F" class sounds fun, but, as of now I just want too do some long range plinking---my club has a 400 yard range.
Was looking at a Saiga in .308 but this seems to be a dead-end.
What, in your opinion, would be a good round to use??
6mm, 7mm, .17 or what?

400 yds eh ? My first thought was Get an M-1 Rifle in 30-06.The CMP still has them for about $500. They have ammo too.An M-1 is truly fun to shoot & you hold history in your hands. The 6.5 is good, maybe better at 1000 yds. due to it's ballistic coefficient, but a good rifle in that will cost real money. Anyway,I'm ol-fashioned & think 30-06 is the best all around caliber there is. But heck, get something,a person can't have too many rifles. IMHO.

Ran across this one during my readings that might stir an interest in you ... Alexander Arms Ultra-Light 6.5mm Grendel AAR-15 Semi-Auto Rifle

Banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered - - Thomas Jefferson 1802
