.223 AI
« on: December 19, 2007, 06:19:11 AM »
Would those of you that are shooting .223 AI give me some of your secrets?

1) What custom shop did your barrel work?

2) What twist rate did you choose?

3) What barrel length did you choose?

4) Would you do .223 AI again or a different caliber?

Thanks much.

Since I haven't recieved mine yet I'll answer where I can. I am looking for max performance in a .22 cal Contender.

1. MGM is doing the work its for a Contender Carbine. They have done excellent work for me in the past.

2. 1-9 (my order goes in the day after Christmas so I still have time to change my mind)

3. 23" full bull SS

4. Since I technically haven't received it yet I would still say ...yes again.

I have a bullberry 22 inch barrel with, I believe a 1-12 twist.  Bullberry barrels are great, I have quite a few.  223 AI is great, but since I don't do too much varmiting these days, it doesn't really do anything any  better than my bullberry 223 rem barrel.  It shoots great, but doesn't get used to splatter chucks like it should.

contact me for more info if you like.

My 223 AI is a 14 inch factory barrel.  It will do about 0.5 inches off the bench at 100 yards.  The twist on the barrel is 1:12.
