I found a long-forgotten box of Speer 100 grain Pliinkers that I bought back in '81 or '82. As was suggested in an earlier thread, this bullet can be thought of as a cast bullet with a long gas check. So today I was able to get out and test loads with 3031, Re 7, 748, and BLC-2. Reloader 7 was the winner with a 5 shot group of about 1 1/4" at 100 yds (I don't expect shots over 200 yards where I'll be setting up so this is acceptable given the limited time I have to develop a load), the other 3 powders didn't even come close-- funny since the pressures and velocites should be similar. Just works that way sometimes.
So hopefully I'll get a chance to see how this bullet/cartridge combination does on coyotes at medium ranges. Will report back if I'm able to get a shot.
Thanks for all the input on the other thread, guys!
