T/C discontinues Contender barrels.........
« on: December 12, 2002, 10:27:52 AM »
Just spoke to "Mike" at T/C Customer Service this morning and he confirmed the rumor that "T/C has discontinued all 10 inch and all 21 inch barrels for the Contender". He said they will still make most of the 14 inch and the 16 inch barrels. He also said that all Contender barrels will work on the G-2 except for the 45/410 barrels. He also said that the G-2 will be out in Feb.-2003. When I asked him if he had personally seen a G-2 he said "No", when asked if he had spoken to anyone who had seen a G-2 he said "No". He did verify that the G-2 will come out in a few new calibers that the Contender doesn't have. Kinda like saying that you can have a choice of any engine in the new hover car that Chevrodge in putting out next year, Ain't no such animal.

There is so much misinformation in the original post (.45-410 barrels won't work while all the rest will, no one at the factory has seen it...) that I can't help wondering if we've got a troll here....

To the people that referred to me as a "Troll" yeah right. I think it sounded kinda silly that one barrel would work on the new G-2(whatever) andone wouldn't, but I was only relaying what was told to me over the phone by the T/C rep. when I called in to check the progress of repair Encore nothing more nothing less. Seemed strange to me that he hadn't seen a G-2 when his company has been working on them for a year or two, but as I said that is what he said "NOT ME" I just relayed it. Hope this clears up things in some peoples eyes, now I'll skulk back under my bridge, I, I mean my easy chair.

I hope we covered the "troll" business in our private messages.  See the TC handgun forum for the latest message from TC regarding the G2.  If it's legit, then we may actually see some this spring, or even before winter is officially over.  Like some others, I think it's coming, but I won't really "believe" it until I see one advertised for sale and can get it in my hands.

I'm gonna go with GB on this one,if you do see it it will not be soon, they cant make enough barrels for either the TC or the Encore, and if they made the barrels the way shooters want them they would have to double thier barrel making facility, think of how many after market barrel makers there are ,and some of them expect you to wait 6 months for one of the Custom barrels, another thing,THEY HAVE PUT A LOT OF PEOPLE IN BUSINESS BECAUSE THEY DON'T MAKE WHAT SHOOTERS W A N T.
Face this to,the Encore looks good feels good, and you can get a good trigger on it,its got a lot going for it.
Thats my side of the story, and I'm sticking to it!  TH :D

just another feather in the caps of the after market barrel makers. Just wish the after market barrels weren't so costly.  T/C makes their own from blank round stock and when I was at the factory a few years ago they were having some trouble getting the barrel stock. If this the case then they can only produce so many and something has to give some where. Fox Ridge probably has some priority as they get full reatil out of the barrels verses wholesale to a dealer.  I was at Bullberry a while back and they use some factory parts on their barrels. They were not able to get the parts fast enough to keep up with the barrels.
