What stock should I use?

Modify and paint the factory wood stocks
Choate varmint stocks
Factory synthetic stocks
I'm crazy and should leave the factory stocks un touched

Seems to me they're about $122.50, but don't quote me on that, give H&R a call or email and ask em next week, then post the part number and price for us so I can add it to the price list page. ;)

Tim

Will do Tim, thanks.

Ok, so I got to looking at the stock, and decided to just try to make it better for now.

I started rasping away and it's coming along nicely.

I went to sportsman's warehouse yesterday, and they had a .204 with the varmint stocks on it, I loved the feel of the whole rifle, but I am taking more to the customized wood stock I have more...

???  The only question now, is do I paint the stock, or tru oil or stain it?

Rick

That is going to have to be a choice you make after you finish forming the stock to your liking , some of the wood that H&R uses has a very nice grain to it and some is just butt ugly . ;D The gunk that they call a finish does not help much to see till you strip it off .

I have uncovered some nice wood and others just got painted right over . all 3 finishes will work depending on what you need and want .

That's true!   :D

I am getting some good looking grain to it, but it's nothing great....

Thinking I may just try staining it, and if it doesn't turn out I will paint it.

I might get a varmint stock some day, but this one will work for now.

Maybe I just need another handi   ::)
