Stevens trigger replacement
« on: December 27, 2007, 05:43:32 AM »
Any of you guys replace the trigger on a 200 Stevens with an adjustable one? If so which one did you use and how did it work out.
Thanks.

I have used a Rifle Basix triggers on both of my Stevens 200's. When you say adjustable, I am talking screws that adjust sear engagement, over travel and trigger pull. These must be done with the stock off. The ones I bought were 1 - 3 pound triggers. I got mine down to about 1 pound with a very crisp let off and little over travel. I like mine just fine, I think they are a very good trigger. Rifle Basix is not the only one that makes these type of triggers, but they are ones I have experience with. If I have another try at it, I may get one from Sharp Shooters Supply

Their triggers have a good reputation and their price is about the same as Rifle Basix (some where around $90). I changed mine and have never looked back. ;)

Just installed one on a pre-accutrigger Savage. I have Riflebasix triggers on 2 Marlin rimfires, the SSS trigger is much better quality, IMO. I have had a bunch of other stuff from them too, stainless trigger guard etc, very good people to deal with.

I used a Timney. Fifteen minutes, and it is very very nice. I've used Rifle Basix too, and they are nice. The Timney was just cheaper from Midsouth. I may replace the accutrigger on my Model 12 with a SSS trigger next.

Got my 200 and the trigger isn't just too bad. Not a target trigger but okay for a hunting trigger. Good enough to put 3 of 4 shots touching at 65yds and a group thats well under a two bit piece. Thats keeping in mind it was 15 degrees out and a 8mph wind and I'm freezing.

I am glad you found the trigger to your liking. No use spending money on a trigger when the stock one is doing the job for you.  ;)

i have two stevens 200 and three savage rifles. all are equiped with sss triggers. IMHO if you own a savage rifle you need a sss trigger.
