what cal. and how you carry
« on: December 27, 2007, 08:07:41 AM »
i carry a beretta model 1934 in 380auto and i carry most times in a pocket hostler and sometime in a belt hostler. My dad got it over there and it was full of clay and i cleaned it and got it working. I like this gun cause it's old, i payed nothing for it and it's worth a lot to berrtta collator  and also it's never jammed.

Depends on what I'm wearing and what I'm doing. I prefer to carry my Kimber RCP. But I carry a Star M43 the most. It rides better in my compact car. Both are in a High Noon Split Decision holster.

My carry gun is not listed.
CZ52 in 7.62x25 with a modified spring and some "special" bullets from Reeds Ammo.

It all depends:

(1) When hiking on trails a 44 Rem Mag Astra Terminator snub nose in an inside the belt concealed holster so I don't scare the Political Correct tree-huggers found in the Puget Sound area who may share the trails.  I have  a special baggy fleece jacket that fully covers this.  Why--raw stopping power for anything on 2 or 4 legs.

(2) When in casual urban settings where concealment is at a premium; PA-63 in 9mm Mak in an inside the belt concealed holster.  I can literally wear just about anything with this from sweaters to casual jackets to sports coats or suits.  Why--light weight moderate stopping power in a small package.

(3) When in a serious urban setting a Ruger Security Six 357 Mag; usually with hand-loaded 200 grain bullets with lots of Alliant 2400 powder behind it.  This is a bit bigger so a casual jacket of some kind is required.  Why--lots of stopping power for anything on 2 legs is a reasonably sized package.

Mostly a S&W M 25-2, 4" in a Bianchi 5BH.

Sometimes a 44 (not magnum) single action, in a slimjim holster on the belt.

When I can have a loose or cover garmet, I wear a Colt Defender .45 in an IWB.  When I must drop down to a t shirt or very discrete carry, a S&W .38 snub in a tuckable IWB, both Blade-techs.  Here's the Defender with my shirt pulled up.  44 Man

9when i turn 21 next year i am going to get me a handgun( i have a handgun and carry it in my fishing box but i know it's unlawful) The model 1934 with it's RA markings (for air force) is worth 475 in VG and 325 in good which it's in. Which one do you think is the best for ant-dog, many light hog and coyote killing, and shooting. the accu-tek cp 9mm, astra a-70 in 40s@W or 45acp, Bersa in 9-45acp, charter arms pit bull, EAA withness, FIG R-9 9mm, the sentry 38sp or a Hi piont gun?  My 1934 is my pocket nemmeis and i could never sell her but i want something a little better than 380.

I carry a .45acp in the AMT Backup all the time. When carrying I use the 185gr +P load which shoots very well out of the little pistol. The reason for carrying the AMT .45 is the pistol carries 6 shots and is stainless steel so I worry very little about corrosion. Up here in North Dakota we just have too many critters that given the chance could be trouble. As rural as our area is you could dial 911 and help might show up the next day.

An accurate little J frame 640-1 is handy enough to always have.  We have 400K+ people in our city and live in our version of the ghetto.  A  5" 1911/45 gets holstered for primary when in civilized areas like town.  ::)

In the mountains, in a tent or at the cabin, I prefer a 4" Smith .44 Special with a good Keith type load.

I prefer an IWB holster from Sparks or Kramer (last forever and worth saving for the extra cost), and Mernickle's PS6DA for OWB.

That's a difficult question to answer as my carry weapon tends to change fairly frequently.  It mostly depends on where I'm going, what I'm wearning and what "mood" I'm in.  (I know there's a good argument to picking one gun and getting very used to it in order to enhance our muscle memory....but I just got too many to not take em all out every once in a while.  It's kinda like Mr. Hefner having all those girlfriends and only taking the same one to dinner every night! ;))

My carry guns include (in order of most frequently carried to least frequently):

Ruger SP 101 in .357 (3" barrel)
Kahr K9 in 9mm
Glock 23 in .40
Colt Officers in .45
Kimber Custom in .45
Colt Detective Special in .38
S&W Model 37 in .38

I also tend to pretty much always have a little NAA .22 lr in my pocket but would never really consider it a primary defensive handgun.

Currently carry a Glock 29.  IWB is just a cheap Galco and have a G-code paddle OWB.

Why Glock?  Because no one makes a compact, hi-cap 1911 in 10mm..

Why 10mm?  Because RAID is to bugs what 10mm is to bad guys.  10mm kill thugs dead, forever.

In factory loads it can be downloaded to 40 S&W performance for the recoil sensitive or it can be had in loads that rival the 41 mag for hunting and self defense.

Usually a 5" S&W 1911 .45.  When I get another holster for my Sig P220 .45 I'll start carrying that more as well.

I carry an SP101 .357 loaded with 200-grain lead bullets, and use a 38 Special case to allow use of the bullet groove for crimping. It penetrates well, but has low recoil and muzzle flash. I use either a pocket holster or an inside-the-waistband holster. Concealment is very good with this little gun.

I carry either my 357 Mag with 140gr hp hand loads or a 45 Colt with Silvertips.
I prefer my 357 and carry it most because I am most familiar with it and I have more confidence in that gun and ammo.

I carry a Beretta PX4 in 40 S&W, a .357 Taurus with a 2" barrel, or a Bersa .380 auto as my minimum caliber.

I don't like IWB holsters and prefer to carry outside of the pants.

I usually carry high on the strong side in a leather holster if I have a long over-garment and my PX4.  If wearing a shorter jacket I get by with a shoulder holster.  If wearing loose fitting dress slacks, an ankle holster works well (and is surprisingly comfortable) with a 2" revolver or small automatic.

I've tried a SOB holster, which works OK for the Bersa, but the cylinder of a revolver presses against the spine and is uncomfortable.  I have one for each of my guns.  A neat trick is to move the SOB holster to my strong side.  Then the gun rests with the handle upward and prevents the barrel from hanging below a short jacket or vest.  You can still draw easily by rotating your wrist slightly and pulling forward instead of up.

I carry a Colt Defender loaded with 230gr Gold Dots in a Milt Sparks Watch 6 IWB holster. I have a NAA mini revolver that I bought in 1979 that comes in handy from time to time.

I have several carry pieces but my favorite is my S&W 642 in a Mika pocket holster. It slips into my front pants pocket easily. The little J-Frame is so light that I don't even notice it being there. I catch myself reaching down often to make sure it's still in my pocket.

either a 6.5 " 629 classic, or a 4" pre model 29, both in a sourdough holster by Rob lehy.  I actually prefer the 629, as the longer barrel stabilizes the gun and holds it closer to the body.

I only carry concealed when I'm travelling.  Then it's mostly a J-Frame in .38 Special or .22 WRM either in a pocket or an El Paso Saddlery "Street Combat" holster.  The wood boot grips are further narrowed and abbreviated.

But fashions change, so once in awhile I'll pack a 629 in 4-inch .44 Magnum when it's cold just to see if I can do that for any length of time, usually in a high-ride El Paso pancake..  Or a .45 Firestar.  Or a .44 Special M21.  Or something else.

But if I'm not just screwing around it will be one of the J-Frames.

Me? Carry a plastic gun? What would Chesty think? What would the Duke think?.....no way!
I crewed a Huey in 'Nam and aircrews were given a choice for their survival weapons. A 5-shot S&W Chiefs Special in 38SPL or the 1911. It took all of 12 micro-seconds to figure out that if this is going to be a survival weapon, I'll take the biggest you got! Been carrying 'ole flatsides ever since and have many to choose from.
A friend of mine, and local police chief, gave me a Glock 22 and 100 rounds with the understanding that I would shoot every round before I bad-mouthed his plastic gun.
Dayum!......it takes a lot to impress me.
Will pick up my new Glock today!
Now leather..........hmmmm.
