this is my first post, been a long time reader. i looked at a NEF Ultra in 308. is it worth the extra 30 or 40.? i had been looking at the surviror in 308. would appreciate your opinions. thanks, ron

The ultra has a nicer stiffer laminated stock and fore arm plus a longer scope mounting rail.
It would cost just over $100 to order them as parts from the company.

If those appeal to you then it is worth it.

Welcome Ron! ;) One advantage of the 308 Survivor is it's a bull barrel, the only H&R 308 rifle that's made that way, I have one with camo laminated stock set, I prefer them a lot over the pallet wood stocks, they're a bit heavier, but they're also checkered, another plus. The longer Ultra rail has been discontinued, so don't count on that any more. :-\

thanks for the welcome. i am going in the am to purchase the ultra in 308. it was in stock, i am like a kid, did not want to have to wait  for them to order the survivor. hope to clean and get sighted in by tomorrow pm and be in woods for pm hunt on saturday!

picked up Ultra in 308 this AM, brought home and cleanded it, son took to 50 yard range this pm. shot 1" group with 150 grain core-lokt's. hope to be in woods tomorrow pm! thanks for all info. ron
