recommendations for .22 revolver

What recommendations can you make for a .22 revolver?  I've looked at prices on S&W, and they're so expensive it's just nuts.  It's going to be a plinking, target, and rat-in-the-barn shooting gun.

So, Chris, you're obviously a Ruger fan.  The bearcat is interesting. How do they shoot with those fixed sights?  Also, aren't they really small?

Why a revolver? For me a MKIII would fit the bill perfectly.

Am I a Ruger fan?  To some degree I suppose as I own several...but all are semi-autos.  You said you were looking for lower-cost options so I offered up Rugers as an alternative.  The Bearcat is a very small handgun (by my standards) ideal for tin-can rolling.   

If you really want a nice revolver...save your bones and get one of these.  They've been on my Christmas list for a long time.

Ruger Single Six in 4-5/8" or 5.5" barrel length. They're tough, plenty accurate enough, and about as reasonably priced as you're gonna get, and still have a decent made gun.

The Bearcat is a neat little revolver but way over-priced. You get more for your money with a Single Six.

I agree jdwolf look at the Ruger Single six. They are plenty accurate for small game hunting and plinking a few cans around the camp.

cant go wrong with the single six that fer sure.ive bought and sold a bunch of them very reasonable in the last few years. yu might look at some colt new frontiers if yu can find one used. i have one and love it but they may have risen in price in the last few years.one gun i still wish i had is a H&R top break.

Smith 617.  There is a reason they are so expensive which is why I sold my Single Six and Bisley Single Six to buy mine.  I have never been happier, but that is just one persons opinion.
