Take it apart & clean it real good. Make sure the latch is dry. Id try a couple different bullets thru it. You may want to consider polishing the bore. Ive never had the 308 bull, but my standard contour 308 was real accurate with 150 corelocts. Enjoy & make sure you give us a range report.   Jay

Well...this one of mine.. would shoot right at 1" 5 shot groups with Federal Match & Norma 180 grainers...My neighbor is doing even better with Winchester 150 grain Power Points...Mine did real good at 350 yards  in the wind with the match ammo from a rest....it's 2.3" at it's widest....so I would say over all...it was a good shooter...

Yup...I put the checkered cinnamon laminates on it...With my tired old eyes..I like to see good...and for bench work or big game hunting & varmint's I prefer the higher powers like a 4x16 or 6x18...Normal hunting you probably won't need more than a 9x...but I do a lot of bench shooting as well...I'll have to find a larger picture here so you can see it better...can't access my old Hunt101 files for some reason ???

Mine in camo lams with Leupold 3-9x40 VX1 shoots the 168gr TSX Match bullet very well, the only time I've had it at the range, I decided to shoot the last two handloads of 3 rounds each as fast as I could load to see how much the bull barrel heats up, I haven't done anything to the forend yet, so I got some vertical stringing, but it shows a lot of promise, the top three are the last 3 shots at 100yds, target squares are 1".

Mac11700,

Have you adjusted your trigger?

Ferryboatcaptian,

I have a 308 Survivor that currently shoots 1'' groups at 100 yards. The trigger is pretty stiff. Both my 308 and BC max out my RCBS pull gauge at 72oz and it takes substantially more pull after that to get the hammer to fall. I estimate 6.5-7.5 lbs.

I plan on adjusting the trigger tomorrow following instructions from the FAQ thread.

Good luck.

My trigger was pretty good straight from the box..It broke right a 4lbs with very little creep. I did the old trick of pulling against the hammer while it was cocked...then pulling the trigger holding on to the hammer not letting go of it about 100 times while watching TV...I soaked the trigger group with Tri-Flow before doing this..It smoothed up the trigger to 3.25lbs with out any creep in it...which is about perfect for these rifles..You have to have some resistance on the trigger...otherwise you'll have the tenancy of not pulling the trigger all the way to the rear and this will cause accuracy issues..because of the transfer bar not being in the same place each time..If you try doing this mod...remember NOT to let the hammer go when you pull the trigger..some folks have broken the transfer bar when they did..
