Opinions on Lee Micro Band bullet molds & Lee molds in general?

I am looking at trying some of the Lee Micro Band bullet molds & Lee molds, does anyone have any experience with them?  I love my LBT molds and thought Lee would get me shooting while I save up my money for some LBT molds.

I've used quite a few Lee molds but not the micro groove type. My experience is that they can make very good bullets but it takes an extra bit of care. The mold halves don't always line up perfectly if you just snap them shut but if you pay attention to assure that they are closed properly then all is OK. Considering that they cost a fraction of the price of any other mold, they are a good deal, but if money were no object, ha ha, I'd prefer Lyman molds, although they require extra care in storage to protect from rust.

And to think I traded off my Lyman molds for RCBS because they were a bit more robust!!!!

I have a few Lee molds, and they aren't really all that bad. I shoot the microgrooved bullet as cast, after tumble lubing. I have the 230 gr. .452TL SWC  It shoots well out of whatever launches it!

i have 6 gang lee molds for both 44 and 357/38.tumble lube molds ,we call them.as stated before the lee's take a little more care to produce good bullets,alignment is subjective,they are also more affected by temperature,or affected more quickly at least.
 i have shot thousands of rounds of both of these,cast from #2 alloy,liquid alox and shot as cast.we only use them at the range,some guns like them better than others but they shoot fine.those six gang molds will make a pile of bullets in a hurry.
 for a range bullet to shoot up with the family or for just everyday plinking i think they are fine,for a hunting or more accurate round i prefer my lyman gc molds.lee molds are hard to beat for the money. besides those molds i have the 480 mold,45/70 hp mold and a 50/.512 cal mold i use for my 50 alaskan,i did have trouble with the 480 bullets while sizing,at first i blamed the mold or alloy.it wasn't either,it was user error,changed my sizing process  with help from GBO members they work great now.good luck,adker

I've got a bunch of lee molds, plus couple other brands. Been using the lee molds for years. Just got a new 200gr 6 cav. for my 44 last week and after about 500 boolits started getting a "fence" around the boolit. Checked to make sure dint have anything stuck to the inside of the mold. After it cooled down went over it real good and found the Pin's and cavitys used to keep them centered had pulled out a little bit. Set the molds on their back on top of my vice and with a brass hammer tapped everything back into place. Mold worked fine after that. If it does it again gonna pull them all the way out and put a coating of J B weld on them and press them back in.

I have lots of Lee molds, as well as some steel ones, and I always seem to like the way the aluminum casts.  I can get a two cavity rifle mold for under $14 from Midway with my FFL 03 discount.

The only problem I have had is I stripped the sprue screw out on one mold. It still works, but I have to tighten it every 5-10 casts.  Really no big deal.

I say buy em!
