.22 LR Pistol Barrel
« on: December 30, 2007, 03:37:53 AM »
Anybody have any experience with the .22 LR Rimfire barrels on an Encore frame.
I have access to a range in a friends basement where I can only shoot .22 and this sounds like a good way to improve my Encore Handgun shooting skills (which really need improvement).

i have a 15" SS barrel that i really like alot .....very accurate with open sight and now that i have scoped it it is really accurate

only thing is its hard to find a scope base for the 22 barrel as it is flat on top where the other encore barrels are round.
so i just bought a regular mount and machined it flat since i had a small milling machine to do so. It looks factory made

i think you would be please with the barrel

tn, this guy must be a REAL good friend! I'm not sure I'd let some one shoot in MY basement that needs a lot of improvement !! :-*
As far as the barrel and .22 ammo, it will be quite accurate and more powerful than when shot from a revolver. There is NO loss due to a frame cylinder gap.I use a Ruger auto in MY basement. Any GUESTS must use the 44,45 or 38 with those plastic ,primer powered bullets!

I had a custom Bullberry 12inch barrel till my son talked me out of it.  Shot real well.  So, I ordered another custom Encore barrel from MGM should be here any day now.

Curious how you like the 2x7 NcStar scope. I ordered one to go on my .22 15".

The scope is fine, not great but it is clear and functions properly.  Also have a NcStar 6x rifle scope on a Super 16inch barrel set up as a carbine.

Well received my MGM 22lr barrel and thought you might like to take a look at it.  It's 14inches in length and requires a firing pin conversion unit I got from Stratton Custom.  It's polished Stainless Steel with a MGM Base and Weaver Quad Lock Rings.  I've mounted a Weaver T36 scope for testing the accuracy of the barrel, but will probably end up putting a varible on there when testing is complete.
