Last of the Versa Pack Combo rifles?
« on: December 31, 2007, 12:26:05 PM »
Today I picked up a .410/22LR combopack from Walmart.  I had wanted one for a project, when I tried to order one from a store what did not stock them I was told the distributor was now substuting Rossi .410/22LR's for them and the NEF's would no longer be avaliable.  I did a quick search of local Walmart stores and found one in stock and grabbed it up, $128.97, which is the price quote for the Rossi, and $9.00 more than Walmart web site quotes.  I don't know if NEF is quitting the combo business, but it sure seems like it.  If you want one now may be the time to get it.  Larry

You must be right, SportSouth, Walmart's suppllier doesn't have them listed on their site anymore.  Wish we still had a Walmart around here that sold guns.

Perhaps someone with an inside track could check and see if they are finished making them.  Larry

From what I have been able to gather I don't think walmart is using sports south as much as they used to and are using Lipsey's more often. Kurt

I have been looking at a Versapack 22/410 sitting on the shelf at my local gun shop for over a year.  At $169 I think it will continue sitting there for a while.  I have offered $129 several times only to get laughed at.

I checked at Walmart right before Christmas and was told the same thing.  I hope they are still making them.

The Versa Pack combo has been discontinued, at least for now, so maybe there's a possibility that it will be resurrected later, we can only hope. :-\

Some things just don't make much sense.
Maybe the sales numbers don't support keeping the combo in the lineup but I seriously doubt that.
Let's hope the combo will just be on hiatus awaiting an update!!

Are there any links to postings with more information??

Yep, I suspected that was the case.  You're right, spanky, it doesn't make any sense.  The local Dick's and also the Mill Fleet Farm always have the Rossi's in stock, but not the VersaPack.  If sales numbers are down, it's no fault of the consumer.  I don't even recall ever seeing one in stock at my local Gander Mountain.  Kind of hard to sell what you don't have....

Maybe the folks at Remington will get some of this crap sorted out and get H&R back in step.

No way in "Hades" I'd ever buy a Rossi piece of crap.  Certainly not one of their counterfeit single-shots!

I'm actually anxious to learn what Remington is going to do with H&R / N.E.F..  No doubt I'm not the only one on this board that's revamped / replanned his project-list with N.E.F. guns.  With Remington buying NEF, even any announcements regarding the SB3 magnum-action might as well be moot - till we hear what's indeed a "go" with Green.
