Source for Rem 511/513T magazine retaining spring
« on: December 31, 2007, 01:18:41 PM »
I have both the Rem 511  and the 513T and need the flat spring that retains the magazine in the stock.  It comes in two styles early and late (my need is for the late one).

WHERE does one get a GOOD one?

I have purchased 3 so far (at 11 - 12 bucks each) with the following results:

From JACOBSON Guns - Story City Iowa - did not deliver.

From GUN PARTS (old Numerich) and From a local Radford/Fairlawn VA gunsmith named ROLES - both shattered into about 4 or 5 pieces when flexed a LITTLE.  Pieces tested to be Rockwell 60 - 62 on the C scale!

Are there ANY good ones available?  Or do I have to take a day and teach myself the finer art of hardening and tempering steel spring stock?

Hmmm, I was about to rattle off Gun Parts but that was before I finished reading your post. Midway USA comes up empty when searching. Maybe hoosiergunworks.com or how about ebay?

I did a search on ebay and came up empty handed  :(

I'm not handy when it comes to springs so I can't help. Come on Remmy fans, pull your knowledge together and help the man out  ;D

Sniper -

Thanks for the reply!  I haunt ebay occasionally but haven't come up with anything.  Someday.
