OT - Wolf Attack...Where's the Handi?

What do you think?  New Year's Day deserves a great story, doesn't it?!

IMHO the only way it could have been better was if it had included a Handi!!! :)

Speaking of wolves, here is a couple of shots of a large track I ran into yesterday on a deer runway on the edge of a road.

I would not want to run into this critter if he was hungry.

Scary story. Glad it turned out well.   I hope the PETA jerks are paying attention.  We are going to see more of these types of attacks by wolves and big cats as long as we are not allowed to hunt them here in the states.  Soon they will loose any remaining fear of people they have.  Already in New Jersey the bear/people encounters have been on the rise since the antis have put a stop to bear hunting in that state.

That's exactly the kind of story that the ANTI GUN CLUB just hates.  They have no defense for it.  They want lots of open space to enjoy, but when you share space with wild animals.....It may not have been a Handi or Tamer, but I liked the outcome of the story, anyway.  The family dog and the trusty .22 saved the day....Don't get any better than that.

I sure hope the anti's are reading that article too!!
All I can say is thank God for the .22 and the family dog, who knows what could have happened without them.

Okay ..... generally speaking ...... where did this wuff attack occur? (state?)

During this winter I've been following stories and the news about 'bad' wolf activity in Alaska, parts of Canada, and Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and Colorado.

Plus there's been quite a few grizzly-man encounters too.  SEVEN! the last I heard in CONUS alone.   ;)

Have to say, glad the whole episode turned out okay.  Those pics show two "good"wuffs!   ;D

Wish there were a lot more "good" wolves in those pics.   ;)

And people wonder why we always have multiple guns in the truck, and on the 4-wheelers, and snow machines.  You never know when they will show up.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

You have to wonder about wolves that will attack a group of people will riding atvs and sledding!  I don't know much, but that type needs killin'.  I am glad they're dead.

Could it be Wolves see people riding atv's and sledding as fleeing prey?

For those who don't know it, Wolves have been "Re-introduced" into Arizona. They are on the Arizona "Endangered Species" list and there is a very substantial fine for shooting one. Only those that can show that the wolves are endangering stock is it legal to shoot one. Then it must be reported to Game and Fish and they will apparently do an investigation.  That's sort of like the Griz in Wyoming. Apparently PETA and others cause the state to stop shooting them. I have a cousin who is now retired from a Sheriff's Dept. and he said that the encounters with them have greatly risen. There have been numerous Search and Rescue people injured by them. The SAR folks have been authorized to carry firearms with them for their protection. He carries a self made (he's a gunsmith also) 45-70 Carbine on searches and has for several years. He is a "one shot, one kill" type of person.
I am a subscriber of updates for "endangered species" notices from AZ G&F and the population is growing in some areas. The last I heard some time ago there was a reward for any information on the killing of one in western Arizona. I'm looking at the possibility of getting a 45-70 if I go in the areas where they have "re-introduced" them.
As you see, I have no comment on the introduction.........
I shoot first, and don't ask questions.
