Plinking loads for .35 Rem levergun?
« on: January 03, 2008, 02:27:34 PM »
Anybody have any suggestions for some general purpose/plinking loads for my Marlin in .35 Rem?  For now this is going to be a truck gun load and something to have a bit of fun with.

I am very new to reloading and have been depending on a buddy's press and know-how but he is mostly a smallbore shooter.  Any help is appreciated.

I do some of this type stuff for other 35 calibers but I never did the 35 rem.
Check out the speer manual.
158 pistol bullets are cheap by the 250 count in bulk rem or nosler at midway
and these will be what you are looking for i think.I load some of these in other
guns for local people and they really like them.
158 pistol bullets in speer manual show.
imr 4895 35-39 grains powder
imr3031  33-37 grains  powder
reloader 7 33-37 grains powder
be sure to double check in case I did a typo.
also in the lever action I would use the flat tip rather than the hp
just to be sure you don't have and problems with the tube magizine.

have fun and enjoy, most of all BE SAFE.

I forgot to add that,
make sure you put a crimp on these so they don't push back in the case neck on you.

Thanks a bunch, I'll be sure to let you know how they shoot when I finally get some loaded.  Got a lot of projects going at the moment.

I use IMR 3031 in mine and got some very good results around 35 grains........I also got very good results at 37 grains.....using a 200 grain Remington Core-lokt.......

I have found the band tightness, especially the one on the muzzle needs to be loose......on my rifle, the tighter I get it the worse it shoots....

My rifle shoot about 1" at fifty yards with a fixed 4X scope.......and about 2 and a half inches at 100......not a tack driver but more than adequate for deer and bear in the hardwoods.......

I plan to try some reloader-7 and IMR 4064 in the future, but it hasn't been a priority.........and probably won't for awhile.......

Got a new, used, Remington 700 in 30.06 that will get my attention next.........
