Optima Elite Chambers
« on: January 07, 2008, 05:23:03 PM »
I was checking out on these rifles at Academy Sports the other day, looked and felt nice, had a affordable price on it as well.
My question is this, how deep are the throats on these rilfes, are they better than the Handi-rifle ?
Anyone doing any handloads for these rifles ? what about accuracy ?
Thanks

I handload for my 7mm-08 and 300WinMag, throats are decent, not problems reaching the lands, look at the range reports for accuracy results, there are several in this forum, with only 7 pages to check. ;)

Hey Thanks Tim,
When I get some time tonight I will check out the range reports.

Are you setting the over all length of the bullets  to the max ? I just loaded up my 7 mm 08 (first batch) and will go to the range Sat. I think the book says that its 2.800 over all length max which is what I loaded mine up for.  Loads seem to chamber alright, haven't shot one yet

Book data/SAAMI recommended COLs are made to be sure the rounds feed thru actions on repeaters, a moot issue on a single shot, as long as you don't seat shorter than the book recommended COL, there's no problem, but there can be a nice accuracy advantage seating longer to or close to the lands. ;)
