Valmet 412 Auto Safety
« on: January 09, 2008, 03:39:16 AM »
Does anyone know if the Valmet 412 has a standard auto safety or if there was an option to have the auto safety removed?  One of the 412 has an auto safety the other does not.

All 412's came with an auto safety, and i "hate" auto safeties!  So i figured out a way to deactivate it...  I offered it as an option and sold a lot of them...

Valmet sent me some parts and asked me to modify them, for them to look at....i did so, and they later offered a way to disengage the safeties on there trap/skeet models, but not their regular models....

I hated auto safety until my field shotguns came with them.  After getting use to them I really started to like them.

I wonder if the modification to the 412 that disabled the auto safety was one of yours...

THanks

They suck big time... every time you open the gun it goes on safe, and if your trying to get a second shot off in a hurry, it's just another thing you have to deal with...

On top of that, they could get you hurt when your hunting dangerous game...

Anything i buy that has one... soon doesn't!

I was referencing shotguns.  :o

But see your point.  And agree for a combo or double rifle.

Now, why should i have to keep a conscious thought in my mine as to what bbl set i have on my combo, or even what gun i'm carrying, when i can just "always know" that my "safety" is on "fire" untill "I" put it on safe!

I consider "that" unsafe in itself....

I don't like to clutter my mind too much, there's not much space in there as it is...   ;D

This is an interesting discussion as I am approaching the combo gun from a field shotgun perspective, which is when you open it the safety is automatically on.  Verse a rifle perspective which is the safety is not engaged until you engage it.

Maybe I should remove the auto safety from the other gun.
