Colt Python

Friend has a beautiful Colt Python with 6" barrel in excellent condition and a SW Model 41 .22LR target pistol in excellent condition.  He needs to sell due to $$$ issues, but wants to get something reasonable for them.  Any comments on value range.  Like I said, both are very very good to excellent condition.  I want to help him get something reasonable for them, or even buy them depending on value.  I want him to do well.

The Colt, if complete with box and papers should go upwards of $750.  An average Colt with out the box and papers is going for around $600. in this area.  I did see an exceptionally clean (like new) complete with box and papers go for $1250.

The Model 41 can also go from one extreme to another.  An average gun can sell for around $500, while an extra clean one with box and papers may go for well over $1000.

Keep in mind, asking how much the guns are worth is kinda like asking, "How much corn can I get from my corn patch?"  It is awful hard to give a good estimate until I have seen the corn patch.

The Python would bring $900.00 easy if its as nice as you say. At least it would here in my area. The S&W I don't know that much about, but I did see one in the original box at a local dealer's place with an asking price of $900.00. They would take a little less than that for it I am sure.

One shop in the area has a 6" Python for $800, don't know if they have the box, while another shop has a 4" w/box for $1100.  Both are in excellent condition.

Where I've been, sellers ask $800 to $1000 for Pythons, probably bringing a little less.  Decent S&W 41's will bring $700 just about any time, any where.  A lot of sellers hold out for $800-850.

Here in my region the Python would bring around $1000+, the Smith 41 probably $750-$800?
