Crosman Storm XT - scope mounting issues
« on: January 10, 2008, 07:49:23 AM »
I received a Crosman Storm XT for Christmas this year.  I noticed that the included scope rings did not include a stop as advertised.  I called Crosman and they shipped me a single ring that had an adjustable stud in it.  The problem is the stud is off center, so it will not meet up with the hole in the receiver.  I called them again, and they are shipping another one out.  I have not received it yet, but I'm wondering if I am better off buying a different mount/ring(s).  I'm not a big fan of dovetail mounts.  Weaver-style is the best thing since sliced bread.  Just curious what everyone's thoughts were.

The only thing I do not like about the Crosman Storm XT, is the fact that I can see the front sight in the scope.  Does anyone know if the cheap plastic sights are easy to remove without destroying them?

Any other tips regarding the Crosman Storm XT are appreciated as well.

Well there was a package in the mail this evening.  I was excited to see Crosman's 2nd attempt to resolve this issue.  Low and behold, I received the same off center piece of crap I did before.  Now I am angry.  The customer service rep on the phone said she was aware of the off center issue with some of the rings.  She assured me that she would send out the right one.  I will be calling them tomorrow to discuss the next plan.  I am half tempted to tell them to shove the whole rig up their *** BEEP *** !!!!

Thoughts?

I spoke to Crosman this morning.  They are now sending me a one piece mount that they use for their higher end models.  This should do the trick.

Has anyone else had these issues?  I have read mixed feelings on the Quest line of Crosman springers.  Some folks like them, while others do not.  I think a lot of it has to do with shooting style and how the scope is mounted.  Different pellets shoot differently as well.  I can hit a beer can at 30 yards without the scope.  But I prefer optics when going after those pesky squirrels.

I received the one piece mount last night.  Much better than the original setup.  Everything is mounted and bore sighted.  Can't wait to shoot it!!!!
