It suddenly dawned on me as to why all the Ron Paul supporters are attacking Fred Thompson.  The RP supporters keep saying RP is the only pro gun person running.  That's not true, so is Fred Thompson.  I for one know he shoots skeet, I've seen him on the skeet range, before I knew who he was.  His group would get my son to throw the birds for them.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I personally prefer Thompson for Presidential candidacy, however, with the way the current winds are blowing nationwide, I think his campaign is over.  He still will have some support at the convention, but will not be selected.  He may take a secondary position as VP to one of the other candidates, but that again might conflict with his personal political convictions.  I feel he is out of the picture unless he resoundingly wins SC, which I do not foresee.  It is unfortunate that my personal convictions do readily follow any of the current front runners for President.  Huckabee comes closest but I do not like his stand on several issues.  His is the only true stand though on firearms ownership compared to the other 2.  I'm going to have to make a final choice soon so I can support one of them against any of the Demoncrats that are running.  None of them support issues I agree with.

   Shucks !  ..guess I'm a bit out of step !

        The wife and I have no problem agreeing upon politics; never have.  Let's see, the last thing I can recall us not seeing quite eye-to-eye about was when about
  3-4 years ago, she had to replace her little pet dog she lost.
    She insisted on getting this little dustmop Pekingese thing..and I was sure that what she really needed was a gritty little Patterdale terrier ...

   I'm a good guy though..so she has her little dustmop !  ;) :'(

Ironglow,  Since the wife has her "dustmop" you need to get yourself a man's dog like a Lab, Pointer, Boxer, Rotty, Beagle, etc.  Real men don't own "Yap dogs".   I have a Lab/Shepard mix that is 60lbs of muscle and loves the outdoors.

Boykin Spaniel is what you need but you might have one on order for a while.  :-\

OK, I’m guilty of 2 out of 3.;) However, my take is that I’m supportive of the secular law our great country is founded on and believe that ones sexual orientation is innate and cannot be consciously changed. I’m with you all the way on the third, my friend! :):o

Well, it obvious that voting Demoncratic has left us to blame W for the country's ailment.  If this is true then why does a Demoncratic Congress have double digit less approval than the President?  It seems to me that the blame is being placed 100 % on the President when much of that should be on a Demoncratic Congress.  It is also obvious that Demoncratic voters will ignore facts, logic, and law and still vote along party lines regardless of the rhetoric by its candidates.  So much for belief in the secular law and marriage under law.  So what if ones sexual orientation is innate.  That does not give them the right to join in civil unions that increase the costs to sacred legal married couples.  Not should it give them  rights from discrimination from those not of this persuasion, nor should they be sanctified in civil unions, not should they have rights above that of normal non innate mentality.  Does anyone believe that a mentally retarded person or mentally defective criminal or mentally suicidal paranoid be given a gun, yet they too are innately inadequate of controlling their abnormality either.  Why should abnormal innate sexual orientation be granted rights that do not exist in societal law by forcing it with political law and having no such basis to make such laws.  That is the Demoncratic point of view instead of the constructionist intent of the Constitution and laws generated from it.

Brett;

   My dogs have, through the years, been Airedales, Jack Russells..and in the future possibly a Patterdale terrier, Feist or Cur dog...

   None of these qualify for a little "yap" dog. In fact, the one characteristic all these breeds share besides hunting acumen ..is pure toughness and grit !
    In these breeds is probably more courage & toughness per pound, than anywhere else in the dog world...LOL :D

Now see those are manly dogs.  I'm especially fond of the Jack Russells.  The have more grit than most dogs twice their size and they are very intelligent.

Sir, I agreed with your response post and only went on to clarify it.  Luckily my wife, a gal from Nebraska agrees with most of my political views.  A down to earth, high school educated common sense type, mellow person.  I feel pity for those whose wives do not support them in the business and political world.  We've been married almost 36 years now and oh, over the years have had our share of arguments.  But for the sake of marriage and our commitment to each other all those years ago, we remained together through the rough spots and enjoy each others company immensely.  I think much of our marriage problems today is the unwillingness to compromise, and blame our mate for faults of our own.  For any marriage to work, it takes commitment and understanding by both sides.

Well there is no changing my wife's mind. She is going to vote for Clinton and to make matters worse she has my mother voting for Clinton as well. We take care of my mother and they spend all day every day together. She has my mother brain washed on this. I feel that our country has to do something about all the illegal immigration here in this country. I am all for putting up a fence to keep them out. I also feel we need to round up all the illegal aliens and ship them back to their country of origin. They say we need them to do the work that Americans don't want to do. I say that is BS. If you were to rid the country of the illegals the Americans would have to do the work. I also feel Bush is crazy for thinking of granting all the illegals citizenship. Why would you reward people breaking the law by making them one of us? If he did that they would be allowed to collect all the benefits that normal Americans do now. As for the duct tape idea I believe she would really put up a big fight and no good would come of it LOL. Dale

Dalescarpentry, I wouldn't lose to much sleep over this. If you look at how the Democratic party is falling apart over the feud between Hilary and Obama, chance's are she'll never make it to the nomination. They all want to give minority's health care, food stamps, free education and the like. But just as soon as a black gets on an even keel with them, what the hell is this all about. He's not suppose to be standing next to me on this stage. Either Obama or Edwards will get the nomination.
What's got me thinking, is now that Thompson is out of it, Tancredo is out, Hunter might as well not be there, the more I  checked out Huckabee, the more Ron Paul looks better. Wonder if I could write in Ronald Reagan and hold a seance?  gypsyman

LOL;

I'm Republican But in-laws are all democrats  and boy what a year to retire in for us! Shoot I get laughed at because my father in-law still thinks that a female shouldn't be out there hunting with her husband! But what ever I married My husband and not the family! I use to hunt because it was the only quality time I had with my husband but then after about 6 months shoot I  loved it and could care less whom said what! Funny I can be a Lady when I want to and a huntress when I feel the need to open up and let my hair down occasionally.
