Benelli Super Black Eagle questions
« on: January 10, 2008, 08:05:11 PM »
I'm thinking of buying a SBE II but concerned that it might not cycle light loads.  Any info out there?  Any satisfied or dissatisfied owners?  Also heard that parts are hard to get.

I've got both.  It will cycle light loads through turkey loads.  I have some complaints, but the truth is, it's the most reliable auto ever made.  Is it more reliable than a good pump?  No.  Is it more reliable than an 1100, 11-87, x2, ect?  Yes.  And the recoil tech on the SBE II DOES work.

In their advertisements on TV on the Outdoors Channel, they had a guy that could shoot 6 hand thrown clay pigeons and broke all of them before they hit the ground.

He was using low brass ammo.

If it wasn't so ugly, I would have one.

It's probably better than my Browning Gold Hunter.

A dealer told me today that Benelli recommends breaking in the SBE with about 200 rounds of ammo before it will cycle light loads reliably.  Was that your experience?

I have had one for a year now and it has cycled  everthing I have put through it.  It did start life in hunting season of last year so I did not use light loads until after the season ended. (~80-90 rds)  Really an awesome shottie.

No, mine shot relatively reliably right out of the box.  My wife has shot many rounds of trap and sporting clays with it.  I've probably put 15-20 of the hot  3 1/2" turkey loads through it.  It's functioned well with the lightest and heaviest loads.

Thanks, everyone.  Now if I could just find the one I want (Max4HD camo, 28" barrel)!
