Just traded for a SA 1911A1---&Have a question about it.
« on: June 29, 2003, 06:36:35 AM »
It has Novak black non-ajust sights, aluminum trigger, lowered ejection port,Commander style hammer, beavertail safety, serrations on front of slide, red grips(wood),& the finish is smooth on sides, but not smooth on top or bottom surfaces. The color appears dark blue or black.(old eyes)
It's a full size pistol in .45.with ambidextrous extended safety.

What does Springfield call this pistol with these options?
About what does it cost in other areas of the U.S.?
I traded for it & it was real rough,so I slicked it up & it shoots very well.

Thanks guys. :-)

josegrande:  it sounds like one of their 'loaded' Government Models.  If you felt it was a bit rough before smooting it out it may have been 'enhanced' by the factory with the sights, trigger, safety, etc.

It would probably run about $600 or better in most parts of the country.  Hope this helps.  Mikey.

Hey  It sounds like a typical SA.  They have poor QC lately.  I know others love theirs.  The QC has hurt them in my neck of the woods.  If it now shoots (some SAs don't) it is probably worth from $350-475.00.  No more.  You have a good starting platform.  Check your frame for BRAZIL on it.  Those are the most unfinished/poorly finished frames that I have come across.

ALL Springfield Armory frames are made in Brazil....but not all are so marked. I have an early SA Mil-Spec that doesn't have Brazil ANYwhere on it.
