Hit the range yesterday, Sunny, low 40's, brisk wind and shooting with pretty much a numb trigger finger, go to test the HS stock and no more sleepless nights wondering if my $300 was well spent. It was the best investment I made for this project and shrunk overall groups just as online reviews showed in their range reports.

I didn't have a dime to use for comparison so I popped a chapstick cap on the target.

The 2 left shots were the 1st ones fired(168 grain Remmy Hollow points). I clicked the Elite 3200 3 clicks to the right and what happened impressed me considering I couldn't feel my finger  :D

Also, the 1st time I took her out to the range, groups started drastically falling apart around 15 rounds fired. Yesterday I shot 40 rounds of the match hollow points and another 20 rounds of American Eagle FMJ and even when packing up, the groups never opened up!

It wasn't until the ride home when I realized I didn't have to bed the stock, it was good to go! We still snuck in time to hit bownling balls and pins at 200 and what the hollowpoints did to the balls at 200 was intriguing. They caused a lot more devastation than I expected.

;D  Awesome!!!  It sure puts a smile on my face seeing a group like that; I hope you didn't split your chapped lips with that big ol' grin that I'm sure you had after seeing the results.  Glad the stock worked out well for you.

After those 1st shots, I was honestly jumping around like a kid at Christmas. My friends and cousin looked at me like I was nuts  :D

Crummy outside so while I'm messing with the trigger, thought I'd take pics of my new Millett base, new 30mm Burris Tac rings(UPS arrived at 8pm!) and my favorite, the Bushy Elite 4200 6-24x50. I've never personally had a scope that sat this high over the barrel but I've shot packages that sat higher and were tack drivers. My cousin saw it and got concerned, I on the other hand am not :) The Warne base sits just as high so I figured mind as well spend half and try this Millett out. I may tinker in the future and if a miracle happens and someone gets the IOR base in, I may go that route.

Have a good weekend!

I have to say that is very freaking nice. Please post some more pictures when you get it all back together. Dale

Looks good! I have just started shooting a M700VS 308 that I traded for. Looks like a shooter, I will report in a month or so.

Someday I want to get my hands on a VS, my collection would be 1 step closer to being complete  ;D

Dale, will do. I need to pick up some fingernail polish so I can cover that adjustment screw on the trigger. I'll pick some up tomorrow for sure and piece her together.

Well while taking new pics, I realized that the front ring isn't up far enough so I'll move it later. I ordered an Eagle Industries stock pack/ammo carrier(OD green, should be here Tuesday according to UPS. Once that arrives, I'll be done with this package(except for a possible tactical bolt knob being added) and I cam move on to getting another started!!

Awesome set-up Aaron!!  I think I'm gonna have to get me one of those stock pack/ammo holders to put on my rig as well.

pics below...

Ken, the Eagle pack arrived just as I got home from landscaping. After having this and some of the Blackhawk tactical models, I think I like this one better. The cheek pad is definitely more comfy and overall it seems much more durable. Same price too so can't go wrong. It's available in Black and Khaki as well.

That website actually has them in stock quite regularly, they are hard to come by a lot of the time.

*On a side note, most of you know I just got the Bushy 4200, shot 18 rounds with it on but low and behold a deal came up where I think I may sell it and get a 6500. My cousin doesn't want his new one(it cost 2.5X as much as his rifle lol) so I may take it off his hands. Seems my rifle is going thru yet another change very soon!  :D

Ok my brethren so I'm dumping the "nab the 6500 elite" idea after falling head over heels for the current package after shooting again this morning. With the accuracy I'm achieving with factory ammo and going prone w/bipod in real world hunting situations for yotes and chucks, I couldn't be more pleased. I may be pushing it if I attempt another scope switch-out and with my luck something would go wrong so no more experimenting!! I promise!!!

My cousin who is starting to invest in some serious trigger time accompanied me and took some photos of myself and "Kate"(Yes I named her). If someone told me I'd have to pay $500.00 for this Harris swivel bipod, after today I'd buy one without hesitation. I don't know how I got along without one for the past 20 years. Try one and if you don't swear by it, I'll buy it off you. No Joke.

The scary part is that I'm getting .5" groups consistently at 200 yds, and that's after walking briskly back and forth to switch out targets and such. My how the cross hairs jump on 24X when not relaxed  :D The extra magnification is a huge help(although I miss the crystal clear image and brightness of a fixed power) but ya gotta make trade offs right?!

I did a 3 round rapid fire and was very impressed. 2" spread at 300 and while shooting, it being 90 or hotter here, sweat was dripping down my eyes which was very distracting yet still, it's so gratifying to know that myself and the rifle did their job. As of late I no longer putz around and go for 3 and 5 shot groups. I take aim at the surrounding smaller diamonds and start firing. I did mostly 2 shots per diamond and kept moving around and my jaw dropped every time I regained my sight picture and saw the outcome. It's taken 34 years to finally feel 110% satisfied with a rifle. I have no doubt I could remove the eye of a coyote at 300 and 400 yds let alone make a clean vital hit. Confidence is a wonderful thing!! I'm sure I'll have my off days but this one will be burned into my memory for a looong time  ;)

Great pictures. Kate sure is pretty. ;) Sounds like a keeper for sure. On a sad note here I may be forced to sell my 243. The only good thing that I think can come of it is I went to Gun Broker and they are still selling the same 7MM-08'S that Kensel bought. If I do have to sell my rifle when I buy a new one that is the one I will get. Dale

Thanks Dale. Why forced to sell the .243? Did you get a new stock or do you have just the action/barrel? How much you figure on asking?
