Remington 600

Let's here about how you feel about them?

I have one in a 600 and 600 Mohawk.

Both are 6mm Remington.  I just think they're so handy.  Mine are accurate too.

I've never held or shot a 600, I should add that to my "To do" list.

I had a Mohawk 600 in 308, Very accurate with any bullet you put in it. Recoil and blast a little high because of the light weight and short barrel.

I've a 600 in .243 that I used to take a B&C caribou in 1970.  Bought it at KMart in Erie, Pa in 1968 for $70.00 new.  Since then a friend of mine cut the bulky stock down and fluer di lis checkering on forearm and pistol grip.  The stock is too pretty to use hunting so replaced it with Bell and Carlson for a Rem model 7.  Fit just fine.  This rifle has consistently placed 3 rounds into .75 almost every day of the year with IMR 4350 powder and 100 gr Sierra or Speer bullets.  A man could do a lot worse than having a NA battery composed of either set of 600 or 660 Rem in 6.5 Rem Mag and .350 Rem Mag.  It is not my first choice but I could easily live with it.  My son uses this rifle now and when I get it back, will put the fancy stock back on it and keep it my case.  I won't sell if for sentimental value as a close friend did the stock work.

deltecs, couple questions for you on the Bell & Carlson model seven stock.Did the 600 pretty much just drop right in or did you do some fitting? Also on the trigger guard is that a blind magazine where you can use an adl guard or did you use the 600 part?Reason I'm asking is I may pick one up for mine. Thanks for any info.

I bought the stock over 30 years ago and am in error as to its brand.  It is not a Bell and Carlson, but a Ramline.  I don't have a problem with either brand.  Anyway, mine is for the Model 7 which is now discontinued.  However, Ramline does make it also for the Mohawk 600 and 660's.  I admit the space around my barrel is substantial as I have the regular 600 and not the heavier barreled Mohawk.  It doesn't bother me.  The length of the stock on mine is proportionately longer like the original stocks in this model too.  The Ramline model number for this stock is 78019 for about $90.00.  Below is a pic of my refinished factory stock for it.
