I DID IT!!!

Finally after much thought, a lot of reading, and saving some money, I bought my first 1911.

Kimber Stainless II.

Here's my first "Stupid" question:

What is the deal with some 1911's holding 7 shots and others 8?

My factory mag was a 7 shot mag, but they sold me two additional mags that hold 8.

What's up with that????

Congrats!!  You'll love that pistol.

As far as the mags go you'll find that there are different sizes.  My carry gun is an Kimber Ultra Carry the original mag holds six, but the two extra mags I carry hold 7 a piece.

Congrats on the 1911, I bought a springfield mil spec to see if I would like them. Now I also have a kimber raptor and am wondering what to get next.

The Chip mags.work fine in mine, have 4 or 5 of them.
