It's Poll time, Remington shotgun related

Don't count just the Remingtons you own but all 12 gauges, But feel free to list the Remington models in your possession so as we keep it somewhat "Big Green" related keeping Master Graybeard from coming down 2 hard on me  ;D

I chose 2 and am adding another('08 870 TAC Desert Recon) when the checking account permits it.

*Currently have a standard 870 Wingmaster as well as a 870 Express Mag with a 18" barrel w/7 shot capacity tailored for tactical purposes.

Ithica M37 ........elegant
High Standard M20 slug gun
Two IJ Champions...... one in NRA Ex or better has US Ord stamps, possibly an old MWR gun.
Savage single shot

I have one single shot, two pumps and one SxS.  NONE are Remingtons.  Three I bought new and one I got used for a price I couldn't refuse. ($20)

Oddly enough, I part ways with Remington when it comes to Shotguns.  I find that I don't need to pay for a name when I get a shotgun, all I need is a certain amount of performance.  IMO, a scattergun shouldn't cost a whole lot, regardless what you want it for.  Therefore, H&R, Savage, Mossberg and old Store Brands fill the need.

Any old tube is good enough for me.  I can't tell you how many Block Shoots I went to and the best meat winners are the H&R Single Shot or some other lowly rack dweller.  As far as I can tell, there are no MOA requirements for a shotgun.

I assumed that 5 would be tops, as usual I assumed incorrectly and I apologize.

I'll edit it so in the future, if someone has more than 5 they can chose appropriately.

* I added 7 more options ending at 12 but it's only showing 8  ???

When I voted, I thought I had them all.  But not long afterwards I remembered I also have a .22 Hornet/12 Gauge Turkey Gun.

Sooooo.....I have 5 shotguns, not four.  All with a different purpose, which, when it comes down to it, doesn't make much sense.

I think that's all of them.

I bumped into another 12 last nite hid in the back of my closet. It's my Grandaddy's ole muzzle stuffer. No name though. Be interesting to shoot it,but I think I'll just leave it where it is.

Allow me to relate a true story that happend in my family when it comes to on old 'muzzle stuffer' that has been laying around.

When I was young, my Great Grandmother let uu romp around in the attic.  Up in one corner was an old hammer shotgun that belonged to her father (my great, great grand father) when he was still alive and we used to get out and look at this thing and touch it and do what kids do.

A few years later one of my younger cousins was up in the attic playing with cap guns and a roll of caps.  He placed a cap over one of the nipples of the shotgun, lowered the barrel to the floor and pulled the trigger.

You guessed it !   That shotgun sat loaded in the attic for over 50 years and nobody knew it until disaster almost happened, just because a kid placed a cap over the nipple.  Nobody was hurt that day, but I can tell you everyone involed was lucky.

I suggest that you don't take for granted that the shotgun you reference is not loaded.  I would definitely assume it is loaded until you 'fire' it.

I know this is off topic, but I thought it was worth mentioning.  Especially when it comes to those antique corner dwellers.

I had exactly 8, so you modified the poll just right for me, except as of yesterday aftermoon, as I just purchased a 12 gauge 1187, for a total of 9. I checked 8 on the poll.

My list is as follows:

1 Savage 24V (30-30 over 12 gauge)
1 Savage Fox BSE
1 Baikal over/under
2 Winchester 1300's
2 Remington 870's
1 Remington 1100
1 Remington 1187

I voted 8 but a recount found 10!

Two Browning 525's. Left hand, sporting, 30" barrels. One tubed for skeet the other stock.

One Winchester #370 single 30 " barrel, fixed full choke. My first gun.

One Remington 11-87 Special Purpose camo turkey gun with tru-glo rifle sights, 23" barrel and extra full turkey choke.

Three 870's.

One Express with 28" barrel, 20" slug barrel, 18" police barrel, 23" turkey barrel with tru-glo sights and hevi-shot choke tube and a 18" vent rib barrel with screw in choke tubes. (Don't know what to do with it but I found it on e-bay and had to buy it.)

One Wingmaster with 28" plain barrel with a fixed modified choke and a fully rifled 20" rifle sighted barrel.

One Wingmaster with 28" vent rib barrel with a fixed modified choke and a smooth bore 20" rifle sighted barrel.

Three 1100's.

One Special purpose synthetic fully rifled canterlever 23" deer barrel.

One 28" REM choke Sportsman. (Express type finish with wood stocks.)

One 28" briley choked Sporting 12.

I don't need and more 12's. One on the 525's will go to my youngest son who shoots skeet, and I will divide the rest up between the three of us. But I keep the 11-87 turkey!

Mike.

I have a older "standard frame" twenty gauge 870 Wingmaster that my father In-Law gave to me. It has a 28" plain barrel with a fixed modified choke. It's in ok shape, the stock could be refinished.

I also have a 20 gauge special purpose turkey gun, all camo finish, tru-glo sights, 20" barrel with the extra full turkey choke. Remington made them for only two years, 03 and 04. I bought it this past spring after the season closed and have not even shot it yet. Light as a feather. I bought the hevi-shot choke tube for it and several boxes of 3" and 2 3/4" hevi-shot to pattern. Can't wait to hunt with this one.  8)

I have 870 Express's in 16 gauge, 28 gauge and 410 bore.

Eight 870's! I'm done!  ;D

Unless I pick up a Wingmaster in 16 or maybe 28 or even 410!  ;)

Currently 3, but more on the way.

1967 Wingmaster that I bought when I was 12.

Express banquet gun that was apparently traded in(never fired), bought off a used rack last year.

Brand new Wingmaster, currently being broke in at the trap range.

I've committed to an 1100 Tournament Trap that will be in my possession very soon. 1979 vintage
2 3/4" chamber, Full fixed choke with gorgeous wood. Fired very little. Going on the wall. I've generally not owned guns that I didn't hunt with or shoot, but I'm making an exception with this one.

Looking for an O/U for trap shooting, pheasant/grouse hunting.

I'll stick to the thread title and not start on my 20s.

Dave

Added a slightly used Beretta 682 Gold E Skeet gun. Left hand, 30" barrels. Sending it out for Briley tubes this week.

One of the Browning 525 is going on Gunbroker this week. So I added one and will subtract one.

870 Synthetic Big Game Gun, 11-87 Special Purpose Synthetic with 2 barrels each covers everthing I do with a shotgun, Turkey, Deer, Trap, protection. The Reason I sold my Beretta ST390 (a better lighter gun than the 11-87) was that for what a extra barrel cost for the Beretta, I could almost buy the 11-87 in whole. I didnt need the fancy bluing and polished walnut of the 390. The Remingtons work great.
