Thanks for the reply; at least I won't need to find a special mount for an Encore 12ga.
This gun has not been bought yet, I'm going to see it today (Fri 1/18). Seems like a VERY good price - $550 for a lightly used complete ProHunter Encore in stainless steel with a 12ga rifled barrel!
As far as your 20ga, thanks for the offer, but I really don't want to get into another shell type. My son and I shoot Remingtons (870 and 11-87) and we tend to accumulate 12ga sabots (mostly Rem Solid coppers) when we see them on sale. Probably have a couple hundred right now. Along with pistol and rifle calibers, we've got quite an armory going.
I have seen comments about the stout recoil on the Encore 12ga, but if it's too much, I'll make my son shoot it. Recoil is good for young'uns!
The thing that bothers me are comments from shooters having trouble getting accuracy from the Encore 12ga. The whole idea behind our getting an Encore 12ga is to get more accurate above 100 yards with sabots.
