Anyone know the velocity difference between the 22 LR and 22 Mag in our handgun barrels?

A long ling time ago I did a little test with my Ohler 33 chrono.  Took a little looking to find the records but:

7-29-84  temps probably 50-60 degrees F
Marlin 39 24 inch barrel, 22 LR.  all 5 shot groups. Velocities about 10 off muzzle.
Rem Thunderbolt   1260 fps  39 sd
Yellow Jacket  1390  28 sd
Rem Viper  1309  33 sd
Win super x solid   1200 22 sd
Win Super x hp  1232 14 sd
Fed Hipower  1217  18 sd

Colt Frontier Scout SA  4 3/8 bbl with interchangeable cylinder
 Long Rifle
Rem Thunderbolt 1028  31 sd
Yellow Jacket  1129  67 sd
Rem Viper   1115 27 sd
Win SX solid  1008 31 sd
Win SX hp   1018  8 sd
Fed Hipower  1029  23 sd

Magnum
Win Super X FMJ  1246  20 sd
Win SX hp    1234  22 sd
CCI  hp      1225  31 sd

So pretty old data - was it REALLY that long ago??  Wow.
I wonder what I would have found with more than a single 5 shot string for each ammo.
I wonder what we would find today with newer ammo developments?

I have a Ruger MK 2 6 7/8 bbl,  I should run some tests with it.

Ahh, the good old days when I could spend a whole day at the range testing loads.

Dand,
I'm impressed that you still have notes from 1984! I'm REALLY impressed that you can find them!!! That would never happen around here!

I conducted an interesting test several years ago.  I ran penetration tests comparing .22 short out of a Beretta Minx, .22 long rifle out of an Iver Johnson TP22, and .22 magnum out of a North American Arms mini revolver.  These are all short barreled pocket pistols.

The test medium was 1" pine boards.  The long rifle penetrated the most.  The short was second.  The magnum was dead last!  That's right.  Even the short penetrated more than the magnum.

I even called and talked to CCI.  They told me that the magnum was designed as a rifle round and used a slow burning powder.  That short barrel just didn't have enough length to burn the powder and develop full velocity.  In longer barrels, the magnum is definitely more powerful.
