Recoil of various calibers
« on: January 18, 2008, 12:00:20 PM »
I have a handrifle  in .243 and got two deer with it this past season in NYS .  The first time they have allowed rifle use in my county. I want to keep the .243 for my son and get another handi for me but I  do not want a hard kicking caliber. Bear  or boar hunting might be in my future.
So, is there much difference in recoil between .308,.270, .30-06 and .45-70. I have been shooting slug guns for years but really do not like the punch from them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.    THANKS

Welcome to GBO.  ;) Here's a recoil table to give you an idea for comparison. Of course you can always add a nice Limbsaver recoil pad to take the bite out of any of them if it's too much for ya. :D
