New 3030 handi
« on: January 19, 2008, 11:17:57 AM »
Went and bought this one this morning!
Found it about 70 miles from home at a sporting goods store, found it over the telephone and thought it had just the plain wooden stock. I got it for $219.
What do you think? Good deal, Bad deal or just about right?

Was it new or used? The price sounds pretty darn good, particularly since it has a straight-grip laminated stock.

As they say in the South" son ya dun good" IMHO the 30-30 Handi is the most "handi" of all the Handi's.   Doug

It was new in the box.
Everything looks good on it except that the spacer at the back of the forearm is a little one sided, not to bad but noticeable,
Got to look into straighting that out.
I cleaned the gunk out of the barrel and shot it in the yard to feel the trigger and it ain't to terrible  bad.
thanks for the replies

That is the lowest price that you can find a plain Handi around these parts (New York).  Of course, Gander has them for (only!) $299 for a plain one.  I wonder how many they are selling!!  I would love to have found your gun at that price.  Quite the deal!

This one has and emblem in the stock that says limited edition, I don't know if that means anything or not.
It was the only one I could find anywhere . I looked on the net and had my friend with a ffl looking to but he couldnt find one either.
Maybe I got lucky for once,
Again thaks for the replies

That's a darn good buy, congrats Morgan!! ;) TGS used to have the red laminated straight stocked RSR 22 hornets for well less than $200, but not any more, they do still have wood stocked 30-30 Handis for $210 tho. The limited editions aren't common, but there are a lot of them around, most aren't checkered tho, still very nice looking. The stocks are available from H&R, checkered or uncheckered, without the medalion of course!! ;D
