Remington 7mm-08 youth L-H
« on: January 19, 2008, 04:31:32 PM »
Has anybody fired one of Remington's new youth model 700 L-H 7mm-08 ? I have no idea about this rifle accuracy, effective range or quality . It's my understanding that it has a 20 inch barrel ,do you think that might be a down side in this caliber? I really like the youth models because with cold weather clothing they seem to fit well Like to know what you think of this firearm.

no i don't think the 20in BBL would be a bad thing at all i like the youth models as well if you decide to get this rifle i think you will be pleased Remington's are well known for their out of the box accuracy and 7mm-08 is very effective round . even my 700 mtn rifle in 270win with it's light contour BBL for the first 3 shots was under an inch at 100yds but the barrel being so light the groups would open up after that if you didn't give it time to cool between groups. , superdown

Have you seen one of the rifles, I didn't think they were available yet.  The 20 inch barrel won't be a negative at all, the 7mm-08 is an efficient cartridge and does fine out of the shorter barrels.  I plan on gettng one of these rifles, I like the fact that it has a slighltly heavier the Model 7 (this format balances better for me and holds steadier based on the right hand youth models) plus of course it is left hand.  If they only offered it in stainless and 308 oh well I guess I can't have everything.

True, but if they don't plan on coming out with a 308 have that 7-08 re-chambered.

You would have to have it rebarrelled or rebored, you just couldn't do a rechamber from 7mm08 to 308 but we'll see what comes out after all the 7mm08 is a fine cartiridge
