Knight MK-85
« on: January 20, 2008, 12:26:48 AM »
I have had Knights ever since they were made. It's amazing how accurate they are. They were high dollar items in their time. But now they are hard to sell even at a ridiculous price. I have sold most of what I had. Still have 2 SS Predators I tried to sell real cheap never got a hit. So Figure I will just keep them.

ourway77,

My first inline was the MK-85, I actually could have stopped right there and would still be in business. I have one of the earlier .50 caliber walnut/blued models. The earlier Knights were very nice looking guns, excellent wood and deep bluing, guns that were put together by craftsmen, fit and finish like no other, not just assembled like they are today.

Still are good fit and finish.

ourway77, I would be interested in one of the Predators if you still want to sell.

If you are going to sell take it to the classifieds and not here. ;)

I got one the first year they came out.  They were kind of fun as they got the attention of the game wardens during muzzle loading rifle season for a couple of years. :D  Mine was very accurate with conicals.  At one time one of the gun rags did a piece on it and at the end of it it recommended several 'accurate loads' for it.  One of them was for a round ball load and when I tried it I couldn't even keep it on a large target at 30 yards or so.  So much for the expertise of most who  do these articles.  While I like the gun it has been terribly unlucky.  I have had it out umpteen times, most of the times I didn't even see a deer and I have never had a shot at one with it.  I had the same experience a few years ago that you had.  I wanted to trade it in on another gun and they offered me so little that I just kept it.

You will do better selling any gun rather than trading it.

My camo synthetic MK-85 was always a great shooter. Fit and finish were better than expected and caught the eye of many traditional ML's back when I bought it.

Although I don't shoot it all that much it still shoots as good as the day I first got it. Looks as good to  I  just recently bought a T/C 209x50 ProHunter. They're a little expensive for a muzzleloader but I like the ability to change the barrels. Haven't had a chance to test fire it yet.

Just put the MK-85 in the classifieds if anyone is interested.

I just bought a KRB stainless/camo last week. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but as far as the fit and finish, it's every bit as good as the Encore I sold.

I have a blue/camo laminate stock .54 cal. MK-85. with Leupold 3x9x40 scope on it.
It is wonderful rifle. I converted it to use the 209 primers and red full plastic jackets.
I will never part with this rifle!
It shoots very accurately and with tremendous power.
I shoot saboted 325grain Barnes MZ bullets over 110gr. of 777.
It beautiful and never leaves me with a misfire.

I have bought a couple of the mk 85s in the 200 dollar range. They are great shooters especially the ones with the 1 in 28 twist rates.

Still have my MK-85 Predator... and never tried or wanted to sell.  Was my first in-line.. an upgrade from my T/C Hawken.  Changed with the times as our MZ regs became more lenient.  Pyro RS, Pyro Select, and then T7.  Iron sights to scopes.  Never let me down during some nasty weather MZ seasons.  Shot great with  T7 ...300 XTP's and 260 Speer JHP's.  Come to think of it, my Omega and Disc Elite really doesn't drop'em any better.  ;)

Sure looks like a real classic in the gun cabinet.

I bought an MK85 years ago when they offered a rare left hand thumb-hole model. I then bought the conversion to a 209 disc. This is one accurate gun, shoots as good as it looks.

I'd like to have one with a walnut stock.  I prefer them over any of the break-open or rolling block styles.

You can buy an unfinished walnut stock from Numrich for a little over 40 bucks.
