Mausers, anyone?

Does anyone know anything about pre-war mausers? Like what problems they might have? I am looking for an accurate bolt action. These look far more "quality" than modern guns. The one I am looking at has no play in the action and little surface wear. Would it handle stuff like Winchester super speed, or were they designed for standard velocity loads?

I am sure any Mauser will handle it. Anything in the price books do not say anything about limiting ammo I am sure it will shoot high speed ammo just fine. As in all guns might not shoot as well accuracy wise as the standard stuff, but you will only find out by shooting. Let us know how you make out. Jim

Thanks for your reply Jim. I can hold a group of about half an inch at 25 metres with open sights and , for me, I'd say that is about as good as it gets. The accuracy seems to be the same with Winchester Superspeed and Winchester Supreme target loads. A scope sight would probably sort them out, but not enough to worry about. It's an amazing little rifle, it really is a scaled down '98 (apart from being a rear locker). The bolt even has that "Mauser" rattle!
