12bvss Synthetic Stock ???
« on: January 20, 2008, 10:03:53 AM »
I have a Savage model 12bvss heavy barrel in .243 win  I would like a synthetic stock for it so as I can take it to the woods without fear of uglying up the beautiful laminate stock.

I have found a lot of stock's   But very few list them for the 12bvss ...Am I overlooking something? The barrel says just model 12...It is the 3 shot magazine...I think the single shot  had a different nomenclature ...As I said it is a heavy barrel model 12 ss .243 win. Who makes stocks for them?  Thanks in Advance Drop

There is a Bell & Carlson duramax model now for the heavy barreled savages.  You can find it on cabelas.com or any of the other places like that.

I just did the opposite, went from syn. to laminate. I think I'll keep the Syn. around just in case..

Two digit model numbers are short action Savages, single shot and repeater had the same model number.  Savage recently changed the magazine configuration, along with the action screw spacing on the short actions.  If your rifle is the older stagger feed magazine then the commonly available aftermarket short action stocks should be a drop in fit.  Go over to the Savage Shooters forum for more information on the differences.  Stockade makes synthetic stocks for whatever version you have.

Drop,

If you want a factory Savage stock look on ebay or elsewhere for a stock from a 12FVSS.  Same action as yours but has a synthetic stock
