Hi all I thought I would toss this out to try and help with some things for the beginners or folks that are having some trouble.
I am sure others will join in with other great ideas. some times I don't write what I think very well.
Many people have a problem re sizing and getting dents in the case shoulder.
In more times than not it is due to having to much lube on the case .
when you have this problem you can plug the die up with extra lube and plug the vent hole
and still have this problem with very little lube on the next case.
If you have this trouble take the decaping rod out and clean with brake clean,starting fluid,bore cleaner.
and get everything good and clean and check the vent hole on the side of the die a lot of times it is in the tread area
and clean with a paper clip or sewing needle.
I use a rcbs lube pad and others like the spray lubes.
Lee lube is usable and I have used it but you have to get it thin and let it dry and My personal experience is it
likes to build up in the dies more than the other lubes do.
With a lube pad or spray you only need a thin layer on your case to have a greasy slippery feel not real wet and slimy.
for full length re size I roll them and get a thin coat on the body,you should feel lube but not wet and slimy.
I will then rub my finger on the neck as you will have some lube on them from touching or picking up the cases
and this will apply a very little lube to the neck.
you don't need any lube on the shoulder and very little on the neck if you ever get a case stuck it will be from
the body not the neck but we don't want to stretch it from pulling hard on it..
A bore mop is another tool that works good for the the inside of the neck: I put lube on this and just touch the case mouth,
You don't need to shove it in the neck and lube everything just the tip.
This should help you re size without dents and not plug your dies up.
If you have trouble getting the case back off the expander ball!
if you find some work great and some are hard, the hard ones are most likely due to older hardened cases and thicker case necks.
This would be solved by a different subject of neck turning and annealing.
You can pull your expander ball out and put it in a drill and put some oil on a fine sharpening stone and run it over this a bit and get a good polish on your expander ball and this will help reduce the drag when you pull the case back out over the expander ball. if you have a coated ball I would leave it.
Neck sizing is just like the full length you don't need a bunch of lube.
with these I just get some lube on my fingers from the lube pad and rub the neck and a dab as before on the inside of the neck tip.
After you get done a clean bore mop works good to run in the necks to get them clean and remove any lube that might be left in the neck.
Lee collet neck size dies are a good item for this as I tried one out and they do a nice job with no lube.
