Relocating to the Tuscaloosa area
« on: January 22, 2008, 02:28:37 AM »
Hey All:

I am relocating to the Tuscaloosa area (Lake View - Million Dollar Lakes) and I have a lease I'll be Quality Deer Management hunting (Good 8's or better), taking does only with Bow's etc.

Just wanted to see if you all could suggest some public hunting (WMA, Quota, National Forest) in the general area, heck I might even be interested in getting into some land near the house...

Been hunting in Georgia (Bear, Deer and Hogs) but I have made a annual run to a cousin's lease in Northport off Old Fayette Rd.

I appreciate your input!

The Oakmulgee management area is in that area and also the Talladega National Forest which surrounds the management area. Lots of hunting clubs in Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Perry, Dallas, Greene, Sumter and surrounding counties.

Try Mulberry Fork or Cahaba River WMA. Seen some nice deer come from both of these. BTW, Old fayette road is about 3 miles from my house. Mike

Please don't hunt any bear in Alabama, the guys in the green suits frown upon that... ;)

I wish I had other info to give you, but I seldom if ever get up that way. I've been accused of tuning my radio to the local station and having to turn around when it starts to fade out.....

Thanks for the input Mike and Tom!

It's official, we got a contract on the Lake Sinclair Georgia home, to close on the sale 5/8...

We close on the Buy of our lake home on the Million Dollar Lakes in Lakeview (McCalla / Bucksville area) 5/9.

Moving in 5/10, Alabama will never be the same...

We'll be on the Ski Lake so, gotta haul the toys (Pontoon and Sea Doo) out this weekend.

I have a neighbor that hunts and we are already making plans for the upcoming season!

Gotta love it when plans come together!

Mike - this is the 8 point I took in 06-07 (Jan. 5, 2007) on the lease off Old Fayette Rd. in Northport...

Yep Tom, I understand there is NO BEAR season in Bama...  Guess I'll have to east for that...

Y'all take care and we'll see yah in Bama soon!
