It will be great prices for quality stuff for sure you can bet on that.  All my norinco products have never failed me yet.

There's been a lot of talk about the norinco 1911a1 being the best steel for a platform to buiild on.  The Polytech M14 has been a great gun too even in its orginal state.

I can't wait for the competition to begin.  It will be another nail in the M1a for SA for sure.  They better get there act together on there quality now....

Great, unloading slave labor made goods and giving the Clinton's money without any bothersome import restrictions.

I had a Norinco M14a in the nineties.  It took alot of work to get it to shoot 2.75" at 100 yds, including new stock, glass bedding, etc.  Had to buy 2 M14 books to understand accurizing procedure. It functioned fairly well except for an occasional "doubling" on a single trigger pull.  The stock it came with was the worst I ever saw.  No finish, just a dark color.  Rough like a semi-finished stock.  Made out of the same kind of wood you would use for the outhouse door, except the door was smoother.

I am less than impressed that Norinco is going to bless us with their presence in this country.

I do believe the Chinese were our arch-enemies in the 1950s & 60s.  They are not our friends now.

I can't say that I want a Norinco firearm.  I have handled a nice 1911 clone though.

Competition is always good.

Thanks for posting.  I thought that they were banned from all import.

What pisses me off is-

With the greatest technology in the history of the world, think about that for a minute, then why can't we build stuff cheaper and with less labor than in China.  It is cheaper to make plywood in China and to ship it around the world than to make it here in Oklahoma?  That is ridiculous.  Instead of crying about foreigners and their cheap labor there needs to be some reinvestment in the means to produce.  The oil industry and their crying about not having enough refining capacity so the cost of gasoline is up.......what a load of crap.

Shootall - watcha bet they bring in jap parts to assemble those "made in America"  cars?

We are led to believe Japanese manufacturers value their line staff.  Don't know if that was true.

I was in the UAW in the 60s and I can assure you that management viewed line staff as sub- human.  Most of the workers there came to work to do their job but  I knew people who came to work to see how much damage they could do in one shift, to "get even".   No one cared if labor had an idea to operate more efficiently.  I didn't see any technology in that plant that didn't exist in 1920.

That plant is out of business now:  750 jobs gone.....NAFTA helps all to solve their profitability issues.  Thank the last democratic administration for that "bill of goods".

I most recently retired from  a professional county position which was in the Afsme (sp?) union.  At first I wondered how a job like that was a union position (required a Bachelor's degree, etc.)  After I saw the county board in action, it became crystal clear why this job was "union".   Many of these board members  couldn't manage labor at the lemonade stand level.  All they could see was "less spending";  (sounds good, smells bad).

Where that leads is to positions that are impossible to fill with qualified people, or worse, it leads to the hiring of the most incompetent people in the pool.  This is the stuff lawsuits are made of.  Management by the "Penny-wise, dollar foolish" method.

Organized labor prevented this employer from hiring unqualified people.  Before anyone yawns & says "who cares?", keep in mind these people are hired at a county level keep you and your children as safe as the law allows.  The competency of the people hired is a function of the attractiveness of the position.

It's the same thing that keeps you and I from running for the presidency, right?

I guess I am mistaken, but I believe that Chinese made firearms imports are banned by Executive Order.

I don't want to get started about losing jobs, were was all these people when i lost my job in '83,  '84 and in again in '85????????????  Thats when all this BS started.  I worked only 3 months in each year....I purchased everything i could that was made in america back then too.
Our quality stinks just look at our cars.  My american made cars lasted to 100k miles and my first japanese car my subaru is close to 200k miles with no major repairs, plus its going to last me for 300k miles before i sell it.  So what new car am i going to buy next?  Then i got a job working for one of the top ten engineering groups in the country.  We did the developing and research and tested it here and send it overseas to be manufactured.  We have factories in every country around the world.  Even the harley motorcyle isn't completely american made.  The showa front forks are from japan.  We just don't make quality stuff anymore....

With SA M1a having quality problems I welcome the norinco m14 at a affordable price.  My norinco 1911a1 shoots great better than any colt or SA that i have or had....

The upper class in this country fatten up there wallets while the middle class takes the hit everytime.  I feel really bad for the ones losing there houses right now.  Its only going to get worse......

What are my old union cards worth now?  UAW???  United steel workers of america??? Teamsters???? I couldn't get a free cup of coffee with them now...

Well by using forced and slave labour, forgetting about humane rights the Chinese can undercut the rest of the world. Of course this also means that a lot of goods are not made well and are sub standard, but hey folks in the west keep buying them and companies can see more profits so they buy or have production moved there so much it's getting extremely hard to buy stuff NOT made in China.

Where the standard of living is lower, the cost of living is lower and the cost of doing business is lower.

If the Chinese peoples were having such a hard time with their communist government and if the Chinese people believed they were being forced into wholesale labor, I believe the communist government would no longer exist.  I believe Tienanmen Square would be a regular occurrence, not just one student protest.

If China comes to the US to produce its materials it can probably make a better profit by labeling them 'Made in America'.  Don't underestimate the ability of a communist government to turn a nickle profit, especially when they dislike unions so much................. JMTCW.  Mikey.

ouch, this is a sore topic ! living in Ohio though, i can tell you a big chunk of Honda parts are built in the USA . in my area of the state , its hard to drive in any direction and not drive by a company that doesn't produce goods (seats , wheels , transmissions , interior , pistons , heads ,etc ) for Honda . They pay better than most American companies . Seems like when the Japanese companies want to make more money, they build more products , when the American companies want to make more money, they take away benefits and move products overseas . I still work for an American company , but about 30% of the people we lose go to Honda , and they make about $15,000 more a year in wages and benefits . Can Norinco make money here , absolutely , a brand spanking new m1a probably costs less than $400 dollars to make , Springfield charges over $1200 , build a Norinco  m1a of good quality and sell it for $700 which is what a used Norinco  sells for ,your making money. Use a composite stock and make even more. The tooling costs would be a killer for most companies but  the Chinese government wouldn't have any problem coughing up the $$

If you follow the link to the website and read the letter from the pres of the company...he bought or acquire the rights to the "norinco-usa" name and plans to build his own weapons and stuff here in the US...
M1, M1A, 03A3, SMLE, No4 Mk1, No5 Mk1, Geweher M 1898, 98k (2), M44, Type 99, SKS, FNC, SAR-48, CAR-15 and civilian stuff too.

Hey, got news for everyone:

wages suck in America

Honda makes parts in America because our wages are like Mexican wages to us (well, maybe not that bad).  If you hire a bunch of younger, uhm, minority people to make the parts that aren't Angry White Men with 20 years of experience then you can build an M1A a lot cheaper than SA.
