Lebanese army opens fire on Israeli jets

The Lebanese army has opened fire on Israeli jets as they flew over the south of the country in violation of Lebanon's airspace.

"The army's anti-aircraft units fired at four Israeli jets overflying the south on two occasions between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. (0700 and 0900 GMT)," a police official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

He said none of the aircraft was hit.

Monday's incident follows a weekend speech by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in which he taunted the Zionist regime by boasting that his group had the body parts of Israeli soldiers who died during the 33-day Israeli war against Lebanon in 2006.

During his speech, Nasrallah warned Israel that any attack on Lebanon would result in a war that will change the whole map of the region.

On several occasions in recent months, the Lebanese army has opened fire on Israeli jets flying low near the border area between the two countries.

Such overflights are a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

The United Nations has called on the Zionist regime to stop violating Lebanese airspace. It says the overflights undermine the credibility of UN peacekeepers stationed in southern Lebanon and compromise efforts to stabilize the region.

Nasrallah is right about one thing for sure. A war WILL change the whole map of the region. Israel will be a lot BIGGER.

And who the hell cares what UN Security Council Resolution 1701 says? I don't care what the UN thinks about ANY THING. The UN has NEVER had in credibility. 3/4's or more of the members of the UN are DICTATORSHIPS.

The Lebanese Christians live mostly in Northern Lebanon, Hezbollah has taken over southern Lebanon and ran them out. The Lebanese do not control southern Lebanon Hezbollah does.

If I was a Lebanese Christian living in Southern Lebanon, I'd move fast.

My own view, Israel should clean out Gaza and the West bank, send them to Iran. Then totally obliterate Southern Lebanon, then annex it to.

You may not like the news as presented by the two versions I presented on this rather huge event, blacked out here.. I'm sure the Russian secular Bolseviks running Israel intentions are to permanently drive out and ethniclaly cleanse Gaza of any Islamic or Christian Palestinians. Disgree with Sourdough' demographic of Lebanon as the whole region was a mixture of the three Semitic religions. There are Christian members of hizbollah militias. I'm having a hard time not going off on a rant on this one, trying to stay calm. I would love to go back there, my reasons are considered dark. I can account for four of them, two blown up trying to make a suicide run against us. Two laying on the Tarmac at Beirut Air Port, that cost me half of my left lung. My wife says I'm full of hatred and I need to get over it. I don't think that way, I look at it as revenge, settling a score. We lost a lot of good Marines, that should not have happened. Hezbollah did that, and I'll never forget!

DEE. A local pastor pointed out that after America talked Israel into leaving the gaza within hours katrina formed and hit us. He pointed out several more times that we suffered disasters after influencing Israel to give up land to try and placate the Godless ones. Now our govt is asking Israel to go back to the pre 1967 borders, giving back all that is rightfully theirs, shame on America. I support president Bush in a lot of things, but certainly not this. Yes, he's going to judge this country for killing millions of babies, and he will judge us for turning our backs on His people. We are not interfering with Israel's troubles, we are helping them. Israel is to smell to fend for its self, that is why they need our help. We are not a hindrance, we are lending them a helping hand.

100% correct!! And the children of Abraham today are Christians, the children of God's promise to Abraham as stated in Gal. 3:7. Israel is an ally
& as Dee said they can take care of themselves. Who God's children are today & who they were before the Christian age is easy to understand with study. I know that this is not a Bible forum, but I thought this should be said.

as anyone, But the Bible was writen a long time ago and buy Humans maybe they were not
paying a lot of attention to today and maybe not every thing was translated exactly as
it should have been. I believe that the Bible is as good of a guide to living as we have or
will ever have, but i think it can not cover every aspect of what nation is going to do.

I think you misunderstood me re6666. I wasn't disagreeing with you. I think we agree, on the Israeli issue. The comment about ammo, was just a comment that many Americans don't know that we buy some of the best ammo (mostly 223) in the world FROM Israel.
The other comments weren't to you. As far as the Bible, I believe it is the inspired word of God, and doubt not one word of it. But, that is a different issue, between you and I, and this IS America. We can agree to disagree on the Bible. Sorry for the confusion.

I have used some 5.56 in training that was Israeli manufactured and although safe, it was hot. It was also top drawer in accuracy and reliability. They are renowned for their QC.
When the best U.S. Navy fighter pilots i.e. from Miramar, competed in war games with the Israeli Air Force approximately 3 years ago, out of 21 mock sorties against one another, the U.S. Navy won 1 out of 21. All were flying U.S. made fighters. Hmmmmm
The Israeli military is both efficient, and "determined". The world is against them, and they know it. We should never walk away from them, but instead should get out of their way, and let them protect themselves. JMO

My brother was in Lybia in the 60's he said then that Israel could take over the hole place
if they wanted, said the funny part was the women in their army were just as bad as the men
He worked for Haliburton, said every time lybia or any of the other countries got into it with Israel the joke was the other country lost 10 tanks, 5 planes and what ever and Israel lost
4 Mercedes. One of the reasons their pilots are so good when they take off they are very shortly
