USH 20 is "AMAZIN'"
« on: January 22, 2008, 02:16:08 PM »
I left my 870 rig in the safe this year to give the USH 20 a go at Michigan whitetails on ground I was unaccustomed to and am VERY happy to report I didn't miss my "partner" this season....Lightfields and the USH teamed well to bag my second buck....a 7 pt 192 # er at 168 yrds! What a combo....the Lightfield  exited too! He stagered less than 20 yrds..........

I didn't really think him to be that far or I probably wouldn't have taken the shot.....I had only fitted the barrel the week before and sighted it at 2"high at 50 yrds....sure didn't expect THAT kind of performance.... ;D

and....YUP....he's tasty

Congratulations buddy, that was great shot. I have just agreed to purchase a 20 gauge USH barrel w/forearm and scope rail through the classifieds here and am awaiting the seller to contact me again about sending me the barrel and me paying him. I am now VERY anxious to get the barrel and try it at the range. What size groups were you getting at 50 yards with the Lightfields?....<><....:)

Hi Andy....

My barrel was printing clover liefs at 50.....I'll be testing at 100 as soon as the temp gets back up around zero....my last buck was taken in 30ish degree weather....I think it only far to shoot under those conditions again. I'm VERY curious to run out to 200yrds with it and see whats what....I sure like the results with the Lightfields. I took a doe at 30 yrds but thats really not much of a test....

Andy,

I'm thinkin' you're searching for a quick fix on the ammo you stock up on....

For my retired Ford worker dollar you just can't beat the Lightfields in my gun. I've been killing whitelails with my 870 and 11/87 with Lightfields for 10 years so I knew what the 12's would do....bag-flop no track whitetail EVERYTIME!
What I didn't expect was THAT kind of performance in a 20......

I'm hooked! I even hung my best glass on this one....a pre-Monarch 2x7  ;D WHAT A COMBO....

Nice deer great shot . I don't know whether to consider this free advertizement for the USH I got up for trade right now or be scared I might be making a mistake to let it go before I make the new USHL prove it's self. Some one don't jump soon it may get pulled til later. Kurt

perhaps I've been living under a rock...er maybe too much time in the woods...

What's a USHL.....??  I gave up my USH 12 for the little guy and I'm sure not regretting it.  Here's the 10 that my son shot....I only took the 7 to stop his gene pool.... ;D  I hunted his Dad I believe....a FINE 14 with tines quite a bit taller.....he was smarter than me THIS year tho.....he tried to attack me just before bow opened!

Congratulations to you and your son.  If there was never enough endorsement for the USH in ether caliber, there certainly should be now.   :D

The USHL is a new lighter version being introduced by H&R later this year.  Check the sticky at the top of the page.   :)

I still am unsure if the USHL is going to be between to Tracker II and the USH or if it is going to be the same weight as a Tracker II?

A couple of spare receivers? That's a problem I would like to have!!! I sure wish I had a couple more....<><....:)

Kinda, Sorta, appears to me that the USHL is a glorified Tracker II. While I won't be biting on one, the more offerings that H&R 1871 lays on the table, the better we can all eat ;D

BTW, Ken and son nice bucks!

They are both 20 ga. I bought one from a now defunct sporting goods store in Green Bay, and the other from a member here by the handle of TNred. Both stock sets came from shaner. Shaner must have a lot of stock sets on hand. If h&r ran low they could call him.

We use the 3" Winchester Partition Gold offerings @2000fps. The 3" Partition Gold are hard to find around here and we special order them from Scheels Sporting Goods. Midway also has them.  We started out using the Rem. Premier Ultra Core-Lokt's but every new box with a different lot number seemed to have a different point of impact. The Federal Barnes expanders @1900fps work well also.

The Ultra Slug Hunter Lite may in fact just be a glorified TII but will also have the new rifling that's my intrest and the fact when I buy it will all be dedicated complete gun. Kurt

Kurt, are you in Wisconsin also? I'd like to know how your USHL does when you get it.That new style rifling has my curiosity as well. Are these guns in the pipeline as of yet?

Ken, I feel exactly the same way.  Since I purchased a USH 20 ga a couple of years ago I haven't used my 12 gauges.   I've got a couple of them sitting in the safe collectig dust now.  My USH even has a 2-7 Nikon on it.  I use Copper Solids instead of Lightfields, they haven't failed me yet.

GREEN BAY!!! you guys should have been in the super bowl. Green Bay under Vince Lombardi was my all time favorite football team as a teenager and young adult. My allegiance of course is now to the Patriots. What a game that would have been for me to watch!!!....<><....:)
