Marlin 990L .22lr
« on: January 22, 2008, 02:24:31 PM »
Hey Everyone, My son wants to sell me his Marlin 990L .22, I don't want to rip him off. Could anybody tell me what it is roughly worth. It is in excellent condition, probably only 50-75 rounds through it. Any help would be appreciated.
Jeff

The current Gun Trader shows the following values:  Good  $91  Excellent $117  NIB $148

You may want to call a few gun shops and ask what they would give for trade in and what they would sell it for.

Thanks EVOC ONE I was wondering if anyone had a clue. I looked on Gunbroker but there isn't one currently for sale.

Thanks Jeff

Yea, you don't see them as often as other Mod 60 types, but they are out there.

For me, the appeal lies in the availability of the walnut stock available on the 990.  Few Mod 60 types were offered with anything other than stained hardwood.  The walnut models tend to be more desirable to the Marlin fanatics.  To the average fellow looking for a nice .22, the overall condition, appearance and price probably matters more.

As a matter of fact, there is a difference in price value for the walnut version versus the laminated model:

Good $91  Excellent $132  NIB $163

Either way, its hard to argue fault with any Marlin .22.  They are fine rifles for what they were intended to do.

Have fun with your 990.  ;)

My local gun shops take 25% or $60 witch ever is more to consign a rifle and offer about 1/2 of what they think they can sell it for.
I would keep the rifle or sell it private party ( where legal)
Why does he want to get rid of a good 22LR?

Thanks EVOC ONE for the info, I like the laminated wood myself, just seems that you see so much walnut on everything else.

Thanks mcwoodduck, yea I plan on buying it from him I just didn't want to rip him off. I don't know why he wants to sell it, guess he has other hobbies besides hunting on his mind? Oh well, kids who can figure them out? ;)
