Need your help
« on: January 23, 2008, 12:03:44 AM »
Ive been wanting to start some type of  22 rim fire competition's at my local range. I'm looking for ideas at this point. Prefer something that has info on the web I can research and make a presentation to the members with.
We have a outdoor 200 yard range that will be used.

Any ideas, thanks.

I would say for you to contact the NRA.

They have programs and could point you in the right direction.

We've been doing a fun game here for some time now - rimfire benchrest shooting at 1/5 size steel silhouettes at 50, 100, 150, and 200M. It's way challenging, and has the same good feedback of regular silhouette - you hit them, they fall down so you can see right away what you did. We put up a plate at each location that is about 6x6 inches, and you get unlimited sighter shots on that. When you feel you're ready, it's 10 shots for record and the targets must be shot in order, just like silhouette. We haven't had any 40s shot yet, but 37 or so usually wins. Shooting a 22LR at 200M is like a 308 at 1000, and you really get good at reading the wind.

We shoot 200 yard paper with 22's & sometimes M-1 carbines. NRA Competition Div. can tell you all the details. But bet I the steel is more pure fun.
