M1 Garand
« on: January 23, 2008, 09:35:24 AM »
I have been offered a M1 Garand.  It was made by the Springfield Armory and it wears a 92xxx
serial number.  The metal is very good, no unusual wear or rust.  The stock appears original and has some minor marring but no gouges but the front handguard is not matching.  The action is solid, the chamber clean and the rifling sharp.  There are no gouges or nicks on the front of the barrel.  It comes with sling, bayonet, cleaning kit and oiler in the stock, a whole bunch of en-bloc clips and possibly some extra parts.  Is this worth $600????  Thanks for any help.  Mikey.

$600 it's a VERY REASONABLE price, SOG is asking $695 right now.  I was looking at one a couple days ago, mis-matched parts, no cartouches, finish was maybe 60%.  The only thing it had going for it was that it came out of the CMP.  $720!!

I agree.  $600 is a steal if the condition is as stated.
You're over $500 right away from CMP, unsure of the quality, and availability is iffy.
