best shooting target design for red dots?
« on: July 01, 2003, 05:23:03 PM »
Right now I use a 1" black dot surrounded by a 5" black ring and I also use a solid 4" black dot for red dot target practice. FWIW, I have some targets that are just two black triangles side by side that are awesome for open sights. What do you guys like as target designs for your different aiming systems?

Osama Bin Ladin works for me!:)  Actually for my red dot I use a black circle that is white inside that is sized so the dot juuuust covers up the white. At  100 yards its about 4 1/2 inches and helps with tighter groups by getting the dot in the same place every time. On the cross hairs I like to use the four squares or multiple squares for checking loads. Again sized for reticle in use.

I did a little experimenting with some other targets and came up with something quite like what you speak of. I like the idea of a small white center dot (say 1/2") in a black circle. Using the white dot only to more easily tell how far off the shots landed from dead center. Just like the target you use your really just using your own sense of centering to put the red dot where it belongs, like you would do hunting game. Makes sense to me anyway   Thanks agian.
