As for me, give me a good old American cartridge. Smaller bore preferably. I'm primarily a turkey hunter, but could take up to deer-size game with it. I had a drilling in 16 ga by 9.3 X 72, but got frustrated reloading for it, though it is a mild cartridge, similar to the 38-55. I now have a Simson Suhl combo SXS in 16ga X 25-35. This is a great turkey, and up to deer gun, and an extremely accurate rifle cartridge. Next drilling I buy will be a 22 hi-power, 32-20, 30-30, 44-40, or other interesting older American cartridge under 16 gauge barrels. If I lived in Canada or Alaska, then maybe a 9.3 X 74, or heavier caliber, but I don't. I did miss a Sauer O/U combo in 30.06 X 12 ga that may have been the ideal all around gun.
