CZ 527 Magazine Interchangeability

Is it really necessary to use a different magazine for 204, 223, and 222 in the CZ 527?  I'm just curious.  Don't most other makes of rifles use the same follower for all 222-family cartridges, another for 308-family, etc.?  I can see why the 7.62x39 wouldn't work, but aren't the 223, 222, and 204 similar enough in dimensions to use the same mag?

The 223 and 204 magazines will fit the 223 sized trigger guard. But the 222 has a different size trigger guard as does the 221FB.............All are sized accordingly.

 ;D ;D  Thanks for the response!  One more thing:  If a rifle currently chambered for 204 were to be re-barrelled to 222, would the original magazine feed the 222 cartridges reliably?  Thanks!

No it would not feed reliably. The 222 magazine has different feed lips, and is a different size magazine.

But that said, if you made a spacer for the rear of the 204 magazine, cut the follower down and changed the magazine spring to a 222 size, it could be made to work.

CZ rifles are inexpensive..........Just buy anotherone in 222........... ;D
